High-Temperature Steel Smelting
Transitioning from crude iron equipment to refined samurai gear requires operating a blast furnace:
- Construct a blast furnace at a crafting table by surrounding a stone furnace with smooth stone and iron ingots.
- Load fuel such as coal, charcoal, or lava buckets into the lower combustion chamber.
- Insert an
Iron Ingot into the upper smelting input slot. - Under the intense thermal draft of the blast furnace, each Iron Ingot smelts down into a refined
Steel Ingot. - Blasting operates at twice the speed of standard stone furnaces, allowing rapid production of bulk steel stocks.
- Standard furnaces cannot achieve the temperatures required to melt iron into steel, making a blast furnace mandatory.
- Hopper-fed blast furnaces allow unattended batch smelting of dozens of iron ingots while players explore nearby mountain caverns.
