Samurai Dynasty Demons: The Four Yokai and Demon Slayer
Samurai Dynasty adds four hostile yokai that wander the Overworld and the Nether, and every one of them shrugs off ordinary weapons. A special enchantment, Demon Slayer, is the only thing that can hurt them. This guide covers each yokai's stats and habits, where they appear, and how to obtain the enchantment.
The Four Yokai
All four are aggressive. None of them can be damaged by a normal sword, axe, or bow.
- Akaname — 20 health, 3 attack damage. Spawns in the Nether. It roams looking to frighten players and lashes out with a long tongue that slows its target.
- Enenra — 20 health, 3 attack damage. Spawns in the Overworld. It stalks caves hunting for players, and its dark coloring makes it difficult to spot in low light.
- Kitsune — 100 health, 8 attack damage. Spawns in the Overworld. It wanders the surface to scare players, and when someone gets too close it fires a projectile known as a will-o'-the-wisp.
- Oni — 100 health, 7 attack damage. Spawns in the Nether. It moves very slowly, but each hit lands hard.
Drops for all four are still being worked on.
Demon Slayer
Demon Slayer is the enchantment that makes these yokai killable. Apply it at an Enchanting Table at level 30. It cannot be combined with Smite or Bane of Arthropods, so plan your weapon's enchantments around that conflict.
Preparing Your Gear
The mod's weapons need a special handle as an ingredient, so gather those before crafting.
Melee options include the 
Kama, a sickle-like weapon with higher attack speed; the 
Sai, another fast melee pick; the 
Katana, the signature blade of the samurai; and the longer-reaching 
Nagamaki and 
Naginata, both of which behave like spears. The Nagamaki can be crafted with the Katana.
For attacking from stealth, there are two ranged weapons: the 
Shuriken and the 
Kunai. Right-click to throw either one. The Kunai also works in melee and consumes durability with each throw.
Samurai Armor exists as well, though its recipes are still being finished.
Materials You Will Need
Several ores generate in the Overworld between Y: -64 and Y: 30, and all of them require at least an 
Iron Pickaxe to mine: 
Aquamarine, 
Jade, 
Onyx, 
Ruby, and Silver. Raw Silver can be smelted in a Furnace.
Steel comes from smelting 
Iron Ingots, and a Blast Furnace works for that too. Steel can then be upgraded in a Smithing Table by combining it with Amethyst to make an Amethyst Ingot, or with Quartz to make a Quartz Ingot.
Where the Yokai Appear
Two forest biomes are worth knowing since they share a temperate climate at temperature 0.4.
- Spirit Blossom Forest — monster spawns include spider, zombie, zombie villager, skeleton, creeper, and slime. Creature spawns include sheep, pig, chicken, cow, kawauso, and komainu.
- Spirit Wood Forest — the same monster spawns, with creature spawns of sheep, pig, chicken, and cow.
Compatibility
Compatibility is included for Ars Nouveau, Deeper and Darker, and Create.
Summary
The four yokai are Akaname, Enenra, Kitsune, and Oni. Each has its own health, damage, and spawn location, but they share one weakness: the Demon Slayer enchantment. Enchant a weapon at level 30, avoid pairing it with Smite or Bane of Arthropods, and bring a fast melee weapon or a throwable Kunai to finish the job.
