Samurai Dynasty Weapons, Smithing Upgrades and the Torii

Samurai Dynasty adds Japanese-themed weapons, gem ores, smithing upgrades and hostile yokai to Minecraft, and this guide covers the weapons, the Steel and gem progression, the Demon Slayer enchantment and the mod's spirits.

Weapons

The mod's weapons all require a special handle as a crafting ingredient, so plan for that before you start.

The Katana is the signature arm of the Samurai and the foundation of the melee lineup.
The Nagamaki reaches further than a standard sword and behaves like a spear. The Katana is one of its ingredients.
The Naginata also strikes at spear-like range.
The Kama is a sickle-style melee weapon that swings faster than normal.
The Sai trades raw damage for quicker swings.
The Kunai works both in melee and at range, and it swings quickly.

For ranged options there are two: the Shuriken and the Kunai. Right-click to throw either one, and each throw of a Kunai costs durability. Throwing from stealth lets you open a fight before the target notices you.

Smithing Upgrades

Steel is the base material for the mod's upgrade path. Smelt Iron Ingot in a Blast Furnace to produce it.

Once you have Steel, take it to a Smithing Table and combine it with a gem to upgrade it:

Combine Steel with Amethyst to create Amethyst Ingot.
Combine Steel with Quartz to create Quartz Ingot.

Ores

Five materials generate in the Overworld between Y: -64 and Y: 30, and all of them can be mined with an Iron Pickaxe: Aquamarine, Jade, Onyx, Ruby and Silver.

Silver comes out of the ground as Raw Silver, which you smelt in a Furnace to get usable metal.

The Demon Slayer Enchantment

Several of the mod's hostile mobs can only be damaged by a special enchantment called Demon Slayer. Apply it at an Enchanting Table at Level 30. It will not stack with Smite or Bane of Arthropods, so pick your enchantments with that conflict in mind.

Yokai

Four aggressive spirits roam the world, and all four share the same weakness: only Demon Slayer can hurt them.

The Akaname spawns in the Nether. It lashes out with a long tongue that slows whoever it hits.
The Oni also spawns in the Nether. It moves slowly but hits hard.
The Enenra spawns in the Overworld and lurks in caves, where its dark coloring makes it hard to spot.
The Kitsune spawns in the Overworld. Get too close and it fires a projectile called will-o'-the-wisp.

Spirit Blossom Forest and Spirit Wood Forest

Both forests share a temperate climate with a temperature of 0.4.

Spirit Blossom Forest hosts the usual monster spawns — spider, zombie, zombie villager, skeleton, creeper and slime — alongside creature spawns of sheep, pig, chicken, cow, kawauso and komainu.

Spirit Wood Forest has the same monster spawns, but its creature spawns are limited to sheep, pig, chicken and cow.
