Etcetera: A Small Mod with No Machines
Etcetera is a compact collection of additions with no processing systems of its own. This guide covers what it holds and how its two builds compare.
Everything happens at vanilla stations
The whole mod uses four recipe types, all of them vanilla:
- Crafting — 79 recipes on 1.21.1, 66 on 1.20.1
- Stonecutting — 5 recipes on both
- Smelting — 3 on both
- Blasting — 2 on both
There is no bespoke bench, no machine and no processing chain. Whatever Etcetera adds, you make it with equipment the base game already gave you.
The newer build has thirteen more recipes
79 crafting recipes on 1.21.1 against 66 on 1.20.1 is the only meaningful difference between the two lines — every other category is identical. Thirteen recipes is a real addition for a mod this size, roughly a fifth of the list.
Items outnumber blocks two to one
102 pages across 67 items and 35 blocks. The mod leans toward things you carry and use rather than things you place, which fits a collection of utilities rather than a building set.
Five stonecutting recipes against 35 blocks means there is almost no variant conversion here — the blocks are individual additions rather than a palette.
No worldgen
Etcetera generates no structures. Nothing is gated behind exploration, and every recipe is available as soon as you have its ingredients.
What that means in practice
There is no progression to plan. A mod with 89 recipes, no machines and no structures is a grab bag by design: read the crafting list once, take the two or three things that solve a problem you actually have, and ignore the rest until you need it.
That is a genuine strength in a large pack. Etcetera adds nothing that competes with a tech mod's systems and nothing that needs its own room in a base.
Versions
2.2.7 on NeoForge for 1.21.1, 1.1.3 on Forge for 1.20.1. The version numbers are far apart, but the content difference is only those thirteen crafting recipes.
Reading the two builds side by side
The version numbering looks like a large gap — 2.2.7 against 1.1.3 — but the recipe lists say otherwise. Stonecutting, smelting and blasting are byte-identical at 5, 3 and 2 recipes, and only crafting moved. Whatever changed between those releases was mostly internal.
No dependency on anything
Every recipe type Etcetera uses belongs to vanilla, so nothing here needs a partner mod installed to function. That is worth contrasting with the food and tech addons elsewhere on this wiki, where a large share of the recipe list goes inert without its base mod.
