Exploring Seers’ Ruins and Solving Elemental Dungeon Puzzles
Getting Oriented with the Elemental Emblem
The
Elemental Emblem is your primary tool for locating the Seers’ ruins and the related Kor-Lunar structure. To change which destination the emblem points toward, press [SHIFT] and [RIGHT CLICK] together. Use this to cycle between the two targets as you travel, and follow the directional guide it provides.
Where the Ruins Appear
The Enigma Ruins, which contain the Seers’ dungeon, generate in specific biome and structure regions. Placement is limited to one attempt per 16x16 chunk area, and any two ruins will be at least six chunks apart from each other. This means you will not find them clustered together; instead, you must travel between distant regions to locate new instances.
The Two Main Puzzle Types
Inside the Seers’ dungeon, you will encounter two recurring obstacles that block your progress. Each obstacle responds to a specific pair of elemental items. You do not need both items from a pair—either one will work for its corresponding puzzle.
Melting Massive Ice Blocks
Some doorways or passages are sealed by a massive block of ice. To remove this barrier, you need either a
Fire Seal or a
Flame Fragment. Both of these items can melt the ice when used on the block. Carry at least one of them before entering the dungeon, because without it, you cannot proceed past these frozen seals.
Extinguishing Bright Invisible Flames
Other sections contain a bright flame that is invisible to the eye, but still blocks your way or damages you. To deal with this hazard, use either a
Heart of Frost or an
Ice Crystal. Either item will extinguish the invisible flame, allowing you to pass safely. Keep one of these on hand as well, because the dungeon will require both types of solutions at different points.
Practical Advice for a Full Run
Before you descend into the Seers’ ruins, prepare a loadout that includes all four elemental items: a
Fire Seal or
Flame Fragment for ice, and a
Heart of Frost or
Ice Crystal for flames. Since the emblem only switches between two destinations, you may need to revisit the surface to reorient yourself if you get turned around inside the dungeon.
When you encounter a massive ice block, approach it directly and use your fire-type item. The ice will melt completely, opening the path. For invisible flames, you will need to detect them carefully—they may be in the middle of a room or in front of a door. Use your frost-type item in the suspected area to extinguish the flame. If you are unsure whether a flame is present, try using the item anyway; it will only activate when a valid target exists.
The dungeon layout is not linear, so expect to backtrack. Mark your progress mentally or with blocks if you need to. Because the ruins are sparse on the map, a wasted trip is costly. Bring spare elemental items if you have them, as you may need multiple uses if the dungeon is large or if you miss a puzzle on the first pass.
Finally, remember that the
Elemental Emblem is not just for finding the ruins—it also helps you leave. If you become lost after solving puzzles, switch the emblem back to the ruin’s location to re-enter, or switch to Kor-Lunar if you wish to explore that structure next. The two destinations are linked, so solving the Seers’ dungeon may also grant you access to further areas, but the exact connection is only revealed by exploring both with the emblem active.
