Using the Camera, Film, and Developing in Exposure
Getting Started with the Camera
The camera is your primary tool for capturing photographs. To open its configuration interface, Sneak + Use the camera, or simply Right Click it. This interface allows you to adjust settings before taking a shot. Once configured, you can use the camera to take pictures, which will consume the film loaded inside it.
Choosing and Crafting Film
Before you can take any photographs, you need to load the camera with film. There are two main types of film, each suited for different purposes.
Black and White Film
This film produces monochrome photographs. To craft it, you will need a specific arrangement of ingredients on a crafting table:
- 1 Iron Nugget
- 2 Bone Meal
- 2 Iron Ingots
- 2 Gunpowder
- 2 Dried Kelp
This combination yields a single 
Black and White Film.
Color Film
For photographs that capture the full spectrum of colors, you will need 
Color Film. The crafting recipe is similar in structure but uses different materials:
- 1 Gold Nugget
- 2 Lapis Lazuli
- 2 Gold Ingots
- 2 Gunpowder
- 2 Dried Kelp
This recipe also produces one Color Film.
Developing Your Film
Taking pictures is only the first step. The film you use in the camera is undeveloped and cannot be viewed as a photograph until it goes through a development process. This process is done using a machine that performs Sequenced Assembly.
The Development Process
To develop your photographs, you must place the exposed film into the Sequenced Assembly machine. The machine will process the film over a series of steps. There are two primary development recipes:
- Black and White Film is processed into
Developed Black and White Film. - Color Film is processed into
Developed Color Film.
The machine will handle the conversion automatically once the correct film is provided and the assembly sequence is completed.
Advanced Film Types
There are also high-sensitivity variants of both film types. These are not crafted directly but are instead created through their own development or conversion processes. When you have a 
High-Sensitivity Black and White Film, you can also process it in the Sequenced Assembly machine to produce Developed Black and White Film. Likewise, a 
High-Sensitivity Color Film can be processed to yield Developed Color Film.
This means that regardless of whether you are using standard or high-sensitivity film, the final developed product is the same. The high-sensitivity versions likely serve a different purpose during the capture phase, but once they are processed, they result in the same developed photograph items.
Practical Workflow
A standard workflow for your first photograph would be:
1. Craft either a Black and White Film or a Color Film using the recipes above. 2. Load the film into your camera. 3. Use the camera to take a picture of your subject. 4. Remove the exposed film from the camera. 5. Place the exposed film into the Sequenced Assembly machine. 6. Allow the machine to complete its sequence, which will output the Developed Black and White Film or Developed Color Film.
Once you have the developed film, you have successfully created your first photograph. From there, you can display it or use it in other crafting recipes, depending on your needs. Remember that the configuration step with Sneak + Use is important for adjusting the camera to your liking before you start shooting.
