FastPipes Barrel Crafting and Upgrade Guide: Oak to Netherite
FastPipes barrel crafting and upgrading follows a single continuous chain that starts with an 
Oak Barrel and ends with a 
Netherite Barrel. Every step consumes the barrel from the previous tier, so you never build a higher barrel from scratch. Instead, you feed the lower barrel into a shaped recipe alongside the next tier's material.
Starting the Chain: Oak Barrel
The Oak Barrel is the foundation of the entire progression. Its recipe is shaped and requires two ingredients:
Oak Planks x6
Oak Slab x2
Arrange these in the crafting grid to produce the Oak Barrel. Because every later barrel is built on top of this one, it is worth crafting the Oak Barrel first and keeping it as the base for your upgrades.
Upgrading to Copper
The first upgrade replaces wood with metal. The recipe is shaped and takes:
Copper Ingot x8- Oak Barrel
The Oak Barrel is consumed in the process, and the result is a 
Copper Barrel. This establishes the pattern that holds for the rest of the chain: eight ingots of the new material plus the previous barrel.
Upgrading to Iron
From copper, the next step follows the same shape:
Iron Ingot x8- Copper Barrel
Crafting these together yields an 
Iron Barrel. The Copper Barrel does not survive the recipe, so plan your materials around the fact that each tier is a stepping stone rather than a permanent item.
Upgrading to Gold
The gold tier keeps the eight-ingot pattern:
Gold Ingot x8- Iron Barrel
The output is a 
Gold Barrel. At this point the chain has moved through wood, copper, and iron, and the Gold Barrel becomes the input for the next upgrade.
Upgrading to Diamond
Diamond breaks the eight-ingot pattern and uses a split material cost:
Diamond x4- Gold Ingot x4
- Gold Barrel
The result is a 
Diamond Barrel. Note that this recipe needs both diamonds and gold ingots, not eight of a single item, and it still consumes the Gold Barrel from the previous tier.
Upgrading to Netherite
The final step uses a tag rather than a single named ingot:
- #c:ingots/netherite x8
- Diamond Barrel
Crafting these produces the Netherite Barrel, the top of the chain. The Diamond Barrel is consumed, so the Netherite Barrel represents the end of the upgrade path rather than another stepping stone.
Planning Your Materials
Because each barrel feeds the next, the total cost of a Netherite Barrel includes every earlier recipe. To reach the top tier you will need, across the whole chain:
- Oak Planks x6 and Oak Slab x2 for the Oak Barrel
- Copper Ingot x8 for the Copper Barrel
- Iron Ingot x8 for the Iron Barrel
- Gold Ingot x8 for the Gold Barrel
- Diamond x4 and Gold Ingot x4 for the Diamond Barrel
- #c:ingots/netherite x8 for the Netherite Barrel
The gold requirement appears twice in that list, once as the eight ingots for the Gold Barrel and again as four ingots inside the Diamond Barrel recipe, so gather gold with both steps in mind.
Tips for the Upgrade Chain
- Craft in order. Skipping a tier is not possible because each recipe requires the previous barrel as an ingredient.
- Keep the intermediate barrels until you are ready to spend them. An Iron Barrel or Gold Barrel is only useful as fuel for the next recipe once you have the matching ingots.
- Treat the Netherite Barrel as the goal of the chain. Nothing in this progression consumes it.
- The Diamond Barrel is the only tier that mixes two different materials, so it is the step most likely to catch you short on gold.
