Crafting and Upgrading Item, Fluid, and Energy Pipes in FastPipes
FastPipes adds three core pipe types for moving items, fluids, and energy, and each one starts from a basic recipe built around
Iron Ingot and
Glass. This guide covers how to craft the basic pipes and how to upgrade the item pipe line into its improved and advanced forms.
Crafting the Basic Pipes
All three basic pipes are made with a shaped recipe. Each recipe uses six
Iron Ingot and three
Glass, but the third ingredient and the glass count differ depending on the pipe type.
Basic Item Pipe: six
Iron Ingot plus three
Glass
Basic Fluid Pipe: six
Iron Ingot, two
Glass, and one
Slimeball
Basic Energy Pipe: six
Iron Ingot, two
Glass, and one
Block of Redstone
The item pipe is the only one of the three that uses a full set of three glass. The fluid and energy pipes both use two glass, with the remaining slot filled by their distinguishing ingredient — a
Slimeball for fluids and a
Block of Redstone for energy. Because these are shaped recipes, the arrangement of the ingredients in the crafting grid matters, so keep the pattern consistent when you craft each type.
Once crafted, each basic pipe handles its own resource: items for the item pipe, fluids for the fluid pipe, and energy for the energy pipe.
Upgrading the Item Pipe
The item pipe is the only one of the three core pipes with upgrade recipes. Upgrading happens in two steps, and each step uses the previous pipe as an ingredient rather than starting from raw materials.
To make an
Improved Item Pipe, combine four
Gold Ingot with one
Basic Item Pipe in a shaped recipe. The basic pipe is consumed as part of the craft, so you will need to have already made one before you can upgrade it.
To make an
Advanced Item Pipe, combine four
Diamond with one
Improved Item Pipe, again in a shaped recipe. This means the full upgrade path runs from a
Basic Item Pipe to an
Improved Item Pipe to an
Advanced Item Pipe, with the gold step coming before the diamond step.
Planning Your Materials
If you want to reach an
Advanced Item Pipe from scratch, you need to account for every stage of the chain. The first stage requires six
Iron Ingot and three
Glass. The second stage adds four
Gold Ingot. The third stage adds four
Diamond. Gathering these materials ahead of time keeps the upgrade process smooth, since each stage depends on the finished pipe from the stage before it.
For fluid and energy transport, only the basic recipes are available. A
Basic Fluid Pipe needs six
Iron Ingot, two
Glass, and one
Slimeball, while a
Basic Energy Pipe needs six
Iron Ingot, two
Glass, and one
Block of Redstone. There are no improved or advanced versions of these two pipes in the recipes covered here, so plan your fluid and energy networks around the basic versions.

All five recipes are shaped, so the position of each ingredient in the crafting grid is part of the recipe. Set up the pattern correctly and the pipe will craft as expected.
