Friends and Foes: Mob Vote Creatures and Features

Friends&Foes restores mob vote losers and forgotten mobs to Minecraft and builds vanilla-style features around them. This guide covers the creatures the mod adds, the structures they live in, and the crafting recipes tied to them.

Mobs

The Crab wanders mangrove swamps and beaches. Its claw can be used to craft a potion that grants increased reach. Breeding crabs requires kelp, and they need a safe place to bury their eggs.

The Tuff Golem is a statuesque mob that holds and displays any item you hand it. When awake it takes spontaneous strolls; a honeycomb sticks it in place. Building one takes a tuff block, a wool block of any color, and a pumpkin.

The Rascal hides in the mines and plays hide-and-seek. It gives hints while you search, and finding it three times earns you a bundle.

The Copper Golem is a pocket-sized creature that presses copper buttons at random. It oxidizes over time, and an axe or a honeycomb restores it. Building one takes a copper block, a pumpkin, and a lightning rod.

The Glare is a grumpy mossy companion of the lush caves that hates the dark. It points out areas dark enough for monsters to spawn. Glow berries tame and breed it, though glares snack on them.

The Iceologer is a lonely illager living deep in the snow, found by searching for a small spruce cabin among the trees. If he spots you, expect icy attacks.

The Moobloom is a flower-covered cow of the flower forests. It works in harmony with bees and leaves a trail of blooming flora as it walks.

The Wildfire is the master of blazes, protected by four shields. It barrages you with shield debris and shockwave attacks, and summons blazes when cornered. It lives in its citadel domain.

The Mauler is a pint-sized predator of savannas, badlands, and deserts that hunts chickens and rabbits. Feeding it enchanted goodies stores experience points you can later extract with bottles; the more stored, the bigger and hungrier it gets.

The Illusioner is a bow-wielding trickster of the taiga, found at a small shack or his training grounds. His blinding spell makes it hard to tell illusion from reality.

Approach a Zombie Horse during a thunderstorm, and magic may happen — you might even glimpse the four horsemen.

Structures

Five structures generate in this mod. Each one overrides monster mob spawning.

• Citadel: one attempt per 16x16 chunk region, at least 8 chunks apart.
• Iceologer Cabin: one attempt per 40x40 chunk region, at least 10 chunks apart.
• Illusioner Shack: one attempt per 40x40 chunk region, at least 10 chunks apart.
• Illusioner Training Grounds: one attempt per 40x40 chunk region, at least 10 chunks apart.

Crafting

The mod adds 22 recipes. The largest group is the wood-variant bee hives: combine six planks of a wood type with three Honeycomb to get that wood's hive. This covers Acacia Beehive, Bamboo Beehive, Birch Beehive, Cherry Beehive, Crimson Beehive, Dark Oak Beehive, Jungle Beehive, Mangrove Beehive, Spruce Beehive, and Warped Beehive, plus the plain Beehive from oak planks.

Two Copper Ingot craft a Copper Button. A Copper Button plus Honeycomb gives a Waxed Copper Button, and the same shapeless recipe waxes each oxidation stage: Exposed Copper Button into Waxed Exposed Copper Button, Weathered Copper Button into Waxed Weathered Copper Button, and Oxidized Copper Button into Waxed Oxidized Copper Button.

Lightning rods follow the same pattern. Lightning Rod plus Honeycomb makes Waxed Lightning Rod, and the weathered stages work identically: Exposed Lightning Rod into Waxed Exposed Lightning Rod, Weathered Lightning Rod into Waxed Weathered Lightning Rod, and Oxidized Lightning Rod into Waxed Oxidized Lightning Rod.

Five Wildfire Crown Fragment combine into a Wildfire Crown. Finally, a Buttercup converts into Yellow Dye.

Compatibility

Friends&Foes is designed to be fully compatible with other mods, and several addons and datapacks exist for it, including Flowery Mooblooms, Beekeeper Hut, and compatibility datapacks for Repurposed Structures and CTOV.
