FTB Ultimine Right-Click Harvesting, Tool Rules, and Breakage Protection

guide

FTB Ultimine can harvest whole clusters of crops or crystals with a single right-click, provided the right tools are equipped and the relevant settings are switched on. This guide covers those harvesting options, the tool requirements that gate them, the protection that keeps your gear intact, and which blocks qualify for a multi-block operation.

Right-Click Harvesting

Two separate options govern this behaviour. right click harvesting permits Ultimine to gather crops in bulk, while right click crystals does the same for crystal blocks. The crystal option depends on the FTB Ez Crystals mod being present (NeoForge only), and it covers vanilla Amethyst along with crystals added by other mods.

A related option, Single crop harvesting, changes what happens when you right-click a crop without holding the Ultimine key. When enabled, that plain right-click still harvests the crop.

Tools matter here. The Axe, Hoe, and Shovel entries each list "Right-Click multiple blocks" as their function, so a hoe is the natural pick for crops, while the axe and shovel handle other right-clickable block groups.

Tool Requirements

Two settings decide whether a tool is needed at all. Require Tool to Ultimine means the player must be holding either a damageable tool or an item listed in the `ftbultimine:tools` item tag. Require Valid Tool to Ultimine goes further: the held tool must actually be valid for the block being targeted — that is, it must be capable of producing dropped items from it.

If a tool is not permitted, the configuration reports it as a denied tool.

Tool Breakage Protection

Tool Breakage Protection stops an Ultimine operation once the equipped tool's remaining durability falls to the configured threshold or below. Setting that threshold to 0 removes the safeguard entirely, allowing tools to break.

Block Eligibility

Merge Tags (Shapeless) controls which blocks can join a shapeless dig. Any block in the listed tags that shares a block tag with the originally mined block becomes a valid candidate. Merge Tags (Shaped) does the same job for shaped digging modes, and its default of `*` makes every block a valid candidate.

Cancel on Block Break Failure is an advanced setting: when enabled, digging halts if unbreakable blocks are encountered rather than skipping past them.

Shape Selection and Cycling

Shapes are changed with the scroll wheel or the up/down cursor keys. Holding Shift while doing either also changes the shape. Holding Shift opens the menu.

Available shapes include Small Square (3x3) and Large Tunnel (3x3). Use Cycle to Next Shape and Cycle to Previous Shape to move between them.

Require Ultimine Key for Shape Cycling decides whether the Ultimine key must be held while using the keyboard to cycle shapes. When enabled, that key is required; when disabled, shapes can be changed freely. Require Sneak for Shape Menu adds a sneak requirement before the shape menu appears while the Ultimine key is held.

Hotbar Message on Shape Change displays the newly selected shape on the hotbar when it changes.

Limits and Costs

Max Blocks per Operation caps how many blocks a single operation can break or modify. Ultimine cooldown (ticks) sets the wait between successive uses, where 20 ticks equals one second. Hunger Multiplier per Block Mined and XP Cost per Block Mined add food and experience costs per block, and both accept fractional values.

Display Settings

Render Outline Alpha adjusts the opacity of preview lines drawn inside blocks. Max. Blocks to Render Outline for limits how many blocks get an outline. Overlay Panel Position, Overlay Panel X Inset, and Overlay Panel Y Inset place the overlay panel; insets shift it toward the screen centre and are ignored when the matching position is centred. Multiples of 0.25 are recommended for the cleanest font rendering. Shape Menu Context Lines sets how many shape names appear above and below the highlighted shape in the menu.
