FTB Ultimine Shapes: Menu, Cycling, Hotbar Feedback and Overlay Settings
FTB Ultimine lets you mine or modify many blocks in one action, and the shape you pick decides which blocks are included. This guide covers how to switch shapes, what the shape menu shows, how the hotbar reports a change, and how to adjust the overlay panel.
Changing the Active Shape
There are two ways to move from one shape to another.
- Hold Shift and use either the scroll wheel or the up/down cursor keys.
- Without holding Shift, use the scroll wheel or the up/down cursor keys on their own.
The mod also exposes two named actions you can bind: Cycle to Next Shape and Cycle to Previous Shape. Assign these in the controls menu if you prefer dedicated buttons over scrolling or cursor keys.
A setting called require ultimine key for cycling controls whether the Ultimine key must be held while you change shapes with the keyboard. When enabled, you must keep the Ultimine key down to cycle using the up/down cursor keys. When disabled, you can cycle whenever you like. The Ultimine key and cursor keys both have defaults, but you can rebind them in the controls menu.
The Shape Menu
Hold Shift to bring up the menu. A related option, require sneak for menu, decides whether pressing the Ultimine key alone is enough or whether you must also sneak to make the menu appear.
Shape Menu Context Lines sets how many shape names are listed above and below whichever shape is currently highlighted. Raising this value shows more neighbouring options at once; lowering it keeps the display tighter.
Hotbar Feedback
The shape feedback hotbar message option, labelled Hotbar Message on Shape Change, controls whether a message naming the new shape appears on your hotbar each time the shape changes. Leave it on if you want confirmation of every switch; turn it off if the messages distract you.
Overlay Panel Settings
The preview overlay can be repositioned and restyled.
- overlay pos (Overlay Panel Position) sets where the panel sits.
- overlay inset x (Overlay Panel X Inset) nudges the panel horizontally. The inset moves it toward the middle of the screen, and it has no effect when the X position is already centered.
- overlay inset y (Overlay Panel Y Inset) does the same vertically, also ignored when the Y position is centered.
- preview line alpha (Render Outline Alpha) sets how opaque the preview lines drawn for blocks inside the selection are.
- Max. Blocks to Render Outline for caps how many blocks receive an outline preview.
For the inset values, multiples of 0.25 give the cleanest font rendering.
Shape Types
Two shapes are named directly: Small Square (3x3) and Large Tunnel (3x3). The remaining shapes are reached through the same cycling controls described above.
Tools That Support Ultimine
Axe, Hoe and Shovel each work by right-clicking multiple blocks. If a tool is not permitted, the game reports it as a denied tool.
Related Configuration
Many further options live under FTB Ultimine Configuration, including limits on blocks per operation, cooldowns, hunger and experience costs, tool requirements, tool breakage protection, and tag merging for shaped and shapeless digging. Adjust these to match how much work a single Ultimine action should perform.
