Core Components and First Devices for Glaiden's Audio
The first thing every new player should craft in Glaiden's Audio is a
Circuit Board, because nothing else in the mod works without one. It is the backbone of the whole audio chain, and it is also the most expensive single component you will make early on: four
Redstone Dust, four
Gold Ingot, and one
Iron Ingot, arranged in a shaped recipe. Gold is the bottleneck here, so if you have not started mining at the right depth yet, that is your first job.
Once you have a
Circuit Board, the rest of the component list opens up quickly. Each remaining part is cheap by comparison, and each one covers a different half of the audio pipeline — capturing sound, producing sound, or tuning into a signal.
The components you need
Capturing and producing sound
The
Microphone Capsule is what lets a device pick up audio. It takes one
Iron Nugget, one
Redstone Dust, and one
Iron Ingot. Note that this is one of the few recipes in the mod that uses a single
Iron Nugget rather than a full ingot, so it is genuinely inexpensive once you have an ingot to spare.
The
Speaker is the output side. It costs four
Iron Nugget, four
White Wool, and one
Redstone Dust. The wool is the part new players forget — four
White Wool means you need to find and shear sheep before you can build anything that plays sound back. If you are setting up a base far from animals, sort that out before you start crafting components.
Antennas and tuning
The
Antenna is a three-ingredient recipe: one
Iron Nugget and two
Iron Ingot. It is the simplest component in the mod, and it is required for any device that needs to send or receive a signal over distance.
The
Tuner is the other half of that job, and it is the only component that uses copper. One
Copper Ingot plus one
Redstone Dust gives you a
Tuner. Copper is common near the surface, so this is usually the easiest component to make — but it is also easy to skip, and a device without a
Tuner cannot select what it listens to.
Your first device: the Walkie Talkie
The
Walkie Talkie is the first complete device worth building, and it is the reason you are collecting all five components. Its recipe combines one
Antenna, one
Speaker, one
Circuit Board, one
Microphone Capsule, and one
Iron Ingot.
That means the true cost of a single
Walkie Talkie is every component above plus one extra
Iron Ingot on top. Add it up before you start: you are committing a meaningful amount of gold, iron, copper, redstone, and wool to one item. Do not craft components piecemeal and then discover you are one
Gold Ingot short of the
Circuit Board — gather the full material list first.
A sensible crafting order
Work in this order to avoid dead ends:
- Mine and smelt your
Gold Ingot and
Iron Ingot first, since the
Circuit Board gates everything else. - Craft the
Circuit Board as soon as you have the gold, so you can see what you still need. - Gather
White Wool from sheep early — it is the only component material that cannot be mined. - Craft the
Antenna,
Speaker,
Microphone Capsule, and
Tuner in any order once your ingots are ready. - Assemble the
Walkie Talkie last, with the spare
Iron Ingot set aside.
Common early mistakes
The most frequent one is treating the
Circuit Board as optional or as a later upgrade. It is not — it is an ingredient in the
Walkie Talkie itself, so skipping it just means you cannot finish the device at all.
The second is underestimating wool. Four
White Wool per
Speaker is a real cost if you are building more than one device, and sheep are not always near your first base.
The third is forgetting the
Tuner. Players often build the
Antenna and assume that covers signal handling, then wonder why their device will not lock onto anything. Both parts are separate recipes and both are needed for a working setup.
Start with one
Walkie Talkie, get it working, and only then scale up to a second device. The component recipes do not change, so everything you learn on the first one carries straight over.
