Finding Goety Structures and Their Rare Loot
This guide explains the generated structures added by the Goety - The Dark Arts mod and how to locate them for their rare loot.
Structure Spawning Basics
Each Goety structure spawns in specific biomes and follows its own spacing rules. The game attempts to place each structure within a set chunk region, and enforces a minimum distance between any two instances of that structure. This means you will never find two of the same structure too close together, so you must travel outward to find another.
The Crypt
The Crypt is a dungeon-style structure that can appear in biomes tagged for it. The game makes one placement attempt per 120x120 chunk region, and any two Crypts will be at least 40 chunks apart. This makes them the rarest of the listed structures. Inside, you will find monster spawners and loot chests. Note that this structure overrides normal monster spawning within its bounds, meaning the only hostile mobs that appear there are those spawned by its own mechanics.
The Dark Manor
The Dark Manor is a large structure that generates in its designated biomes. Placement is attempted once per 60x60 chunk region, with a minimum separation of 20 chunks between manors. It contains multiple rooms and chests with valuable magical loot, but be prepared for hostile inhabitants.
The Graveyard
The Graveyard is a smaller, more common structure. It generates with one attempt per 32x32 chunk region, and instances are at least 8 chunks apart. This makes it the most frequent structure in this list. Like the Crypt, it overrides monster spawning for its area, so expect undead to appear from its graves and spawners. Its loot is often found in buried chests or above-ground structures.
The Ominous Blacksmith
The Ominous Blacksmith is a structure that generates with one attempt per 60x60 chunk region, with a minimum 20-chunk gap between instances. This building resembles a forge or workshop. Its loot focuses on smithing materials, enchanted tools, and possibly unique dark artifacts. Search the main building and any attached storage areas.
The Sorcerous Keep
The Sorcerous Keep follows the same placement rules as the Dark Manor and Ominous Blacksmith: one attempt per 60x60 chunk region, at least 20 chunks apart. This is a fortified tower or castle-like structure. Its loot includes magical reagents, spell books, and rare components used in dark arts crafting. Explore every floor and hidden room.
The Wind Shrine
The Wind Shrine also uses the 60x60 chunk region attempt with a 20-chunk minimum distance. This shrine is dedicated to air or wind magic. Expect loot related to wind spells, feathers, and other aerial-themed items. The shrine may have an open-air design, so check high ledges and central altars.
Practical Searching Tips
- Use the chunk spacing to your advantage: If you find one structure, you know the next one of the same type is at least the minimum distance away. Travel in a straight line for that distance before searching in a grid pattern.
- Carry good gear: The Crypt and Graveyard override monster spawns, so they are dangerous. The other structures also have hostile mobs or traps.
- Look for surface clues: Some structures, like the Graveyard, may have visible surface elements. Others, like the Crypt, might be underground, so listen for mob sounds or look for entrances.
- Check every container: Loot is not always in obvious chests. Barrels, pots, and hidden compartments can hold the rarest items.
- Bring a way to mark your path: Because structures are far apart, you will travel long distances. Use waypoints or build small markers to avoid getting lost.
