Crafting Every Ghast Harness Color From Leather and Wool
Every Ghast harness in Happy Ghast is made from the same three ingredients:
Leather,
Glass, and a single block of colored Wool. The wool is the only thing that changes between the sixteen colors, so once you understand one recipe you understand all of them. There are sixteen harness colors in total, and each one maps to exactly one wool color.
The Universal Recipe
Every harness uses a shaped recipe with three
Leather, two
Glass, and one Wool of the matching color. That is the whole pattern — no dyes, no extra steps, no separate crafting station. The wool block you drop in determines which harness comes out.
This means the practical bottleneck is never the recipe shape. It is gathering enough
Leather and
Glass to cover every color you want, plus finding the specific Wool color for each one.

Planning Your Materials
Because the recipe is identical across all sixteen, you can plan a full set with simple multiplication. Each harness costs three
Leather, two
Glass, and one Wool. If you intend to craft all sixteen colors, you need sixteen wool blocks — one of each color — alongside a steady supply of
Leather and
Glass.
The Wool is usually the easy part if you keep a flock of sheep in the standard dye colors.
Leather tends to be the ingredient people run short on, since it comes from cows rather than from a renewable block.
Glass sits in the middle: smelting
Sand is straightforward, but it takes furnace time and fuel.
A sensible order of operations:
- Build up a
Leather stockpile first, since it is the shared cost across every recipe. - Smelt
Glass in bulk rather than one batch at a time. - Collect the sixteen Wool colors you actually want before you start crafting, so you are not stopping mid-set to dye more.
Why Craft More Than One Color
Since the recipe never changes, the only reason to craft a specific color is cosmetic — matching a harness to a build, a team, or a themed pen of ghasts. Because the wool is the sole variable, you can treat the whole set as a single project: gather the shared ingredients once, then swap in each wool color in turn.
If you only want one harness, pick the wool color you like and craft it. If you want the full rainbow, work through the list above one color at a time, keeping your
Leather and
Glass counts topped up as you go.
Common Mistakes
The most frequent error is assuming the wool has to be dyed after crafting. It does not — the Wool goes into the recipe already colored, and the output harness matches it directly. A
Red Wool produces a
Red Harness, not a blank one you recolor later.
The second mistake is treating the recipes as different from one another. They are not. Every one of the sixteen is the same shaped arrangement of three
Leather, two
Glass, and one Wool. Learn it once and you can craft any color without checking a reference.
Finally, do not overlook
Leather as the real cost. Sixteen harnesses means a lot of hides, and it is worth sorting out your leather supply before committing to the full set.
