Held Item Info Config: Tooltips, Settings, and In-Game Display

guide

Held Item Info Config is the settings screen where you control how item tooltips look and what extra information they show. You reach it through the mod's own interface, and everything below is adjusted there rather than through any crafting or item recipe.

Opening the Config Screen

The screen is titled Held Item Info Config. Open it from the mod's interface, then work through the options listed on it. Each option carries a short description line explaining what it changes, so you can read the effect before adjusting anything.

Tooltip Size and Layout

These settings decide how large a tooltip grows and where it sits.

  • maxLines — sets the greatest number of lines a tooltip may use, counting the item name.
  • The characters-per-line option — caps roughly how many characters fit on one line. It applies only to lore text and command block output.
  • The line height option — sets how tall each line is, measured in pixels.
  • offsetPerExtraLine — moves all the text vertically by a set number of pixels for every line beyond the first. As described on screen, this normally pulls the tooltip nearer to the hotbar as more lines are added.
  • The gap option — controls the space between the item name and the line beneath it.

Fading Behaviour

Tooltips do not stay on screen forever, and you can tune how long they linger.

  • baseFadeDuration — the number of seconds a single-line tooltip remains before it disappears.
  • fadeDurationPerExtraLine — extra time added before fading for each additional line.

Toggles for Extra Information

Several switches add detail that vanilla tooltips leave out. Turn on only what you want to see.

  • respectHideFlags — when enabled, only information not hidden by component properties is shown.
  • mergeSimilarContainerItems — combines similar items inside containers.
  • showFireworkAttributes — displays firework rocket attributes.
  • showCommandBlockInfo — shows a command block's command, limited by maxCommandLines, which caps how many lines of that command appear.
  • showBeehiveContent — reports what is inside a beehive or bee nest.
  • showCrossbowProjectiles — lists a crossbow's loaded projectiles.
  • maxLoreLines — caps how many lore lines are displayed.
  • showPaintingDescription — shows painting information.
  • showGoatHornInstrument — shows the goat horn's instrument.
  • showBookMeta — shows a book's author and generation.
  • showBannerPatternName — shows the Banner Pattern name. Note that this affects Banner Pattern items only, not placed banners.
  • showEntityBucketContent — shows which entity type is held in a bucket.
  • showHiddenLinesCount — shows how many extra lines are being withheld.

Enchantment Filtering

The enchantment section lets you narrow which enchantments appear.

  • enchantments — the filter list itself.
  • showOnlyFilteredEnchantments — set this to Yes to display only the enchantments you listed below, or to No to display everything except those enchantments.
  • filteredEnchantments — where you enter the enchantment IDs. Use the ID form, such as `minecraft:silk_touch`, rather than the display name like Silk Touch. If you cannot locate the text fields, press TAB a few times to cycle focus to them.

Practical Notes

Work through the screen top to bottom: set your line and character limits first, then fading, then the information toggles, and finally enchantment filtering if you use it. Every option includes an on-screen description, so hover or read the line beside it whenever the name alone is unclear. Changes take effect on the tooltips you see while playing, so you can adjust a value, check an item, and refine it again.
