Exploring Hybrid Aquatic Biomes, Structures, and Gear
Hybrid Aquatic enhances underwater exploration by introducing new biomes, structures, and specialized gear for deep-sea adventures. This guide details some of the features you can discover.
Discovering Whale Falls
The Whale Fall is a unique structure that generates in specific aquatic biomes. These structures appear in biomes tagged with #hybrid_aquatic:has_whale_fall. When exploring, you can expect to find one Whale Fall attempt per 16x16 chunk region, with each instance placed at least 3 chunks apart from others. Within the vicinity of a Whale Fall, the natural spawning of certain creatures is affected; it overrides the spawning of hybrid_aquatic:critter, hybrid_aquatic:crustacean, and hybrid_aquatic:fish.
Diving Armor Upgrades
To better prepare for underwater journeys, Hybrid Aquatic provides specialized diving armor that can be upgraded. These upgrades enhance your existing diving gear.
The 
Diving Armor Upgrade Template is a key component for improving your diving suit. You can craft this template using a shaped recipe: seven 
Prismarine Shard items, one existing Diving Armor Upgrade Template, and some 
Prismarine Crystals. This process yields a new Diving Armor Upgrade Template.
Once you have a Diving Armor Upgrade Template and a 
Black Pearl, you can reinforce your diving gear using a smithing transform recipe. This process applies to individual armor pieces:
- To create
Reinforced Diving Leggings, combine a Diving Armor Upgrade Template, 
Diving Leggings, and a Black Pearl. - To create a
Reinforced Diving Helmet, combine a Diving Armor Upgrade Template, a 
Diving Helmet, and a Black Pearl. - To create
Reinforced Diving Boots, combine a Diving Armor Upgrade Template, 
Diving Boots, and a Black Pearl. - To create a
Reinforced Diving Suit, combine a Diving Armor Upgrade Template, a 
Diving Suit, and a Black Pearl.
These reinforced armor pieces offer improved capabilities for your underwater expeditions.
Whale falls are common by design
The Whale Fall generates at spacing 16, separation 3, which makes it one of the more densely placed structures in any mod on this site. It is not a rare find to be hunted; it is scenery you will swim past regularly once you are diving in the right biomes.
Treat them accordingly — clear one when you pass it rather than marking it for a return trip.
Gearing for the depths
The diving set is upgraded at a smithing table using the Diving Armor Upgrade Template, and the material you add decides which of the two upgrade paths you get: 
Glowslime for the glowing variants, Black Pearl for the reinforced ones. All four pieces exist in both forms, giving eight upgrade recipes in total.
Glowing pieces answer the real problem with deep exploration, which is that you cannot see. Reinforced pieces answer the other one.
Eating what you find
There is no need to carry food down. Twelve seafood items cook in a campfire, furnace or smoker interchangeably, so a campfire on the nearest shore turns each dive into a self-supporting trip.
What to bring back
Beyond loot, the reason to dive is material: 67 stonecutting recipes turn the aquatic blocks into a full slab, stair and wall palette. Collect blocks as you go — they are the part of the trip that keeps paying after you surface.
