Recoloring Wings with Dyes in Icarus
Using White Base Variants
The Icarus mod includes a simple dye system for changing wing colors. To get a colored wing, you start with the white version of that wing type and combine it with the appropriate dye. This works for several wing categories, including dragon, feathered, light, and mechanical leather wings.
Crafting Colored Wings
Each colored wing is made through a shapeless crafting recipe. Place the white wing variant together with the correct dye in any arrangement, and the result will be the colored wing of that type.
Black Dragon Wings: Combine 
White Dragon Wings with black dye.
Blue Feathered Wings: Combine 
White Feathered Wings with blue dye.
Red Light Wings: Combine 
White Light Wings with red dye.
Green Mechanical Leather Wings: Combine 
White Mechanical Leather Wings with green dye.
The dye tag used in these recipes is the standard common dye tag, so any item that counts as that color of dye should work.
Direct Crafting Alternatives
Some colored wings can also be crafted directly without starting from a white base. These recipes use different materials.
Black Dragon Wings
There is an alternative shaped recipe for Black Dragon Wings. Arrange three 
Honeycomb, four 
Dragon's Breath, and one 
Elytra in the crafting grid. The exact placement follows the shaped pattern, but the components are fixed.
Notes on the Process
- The white wing variants are the essential starting point for dye-based recoloring. Without them, the dye recipes will not work.
- The dye recipes are shapeless, so you do not need to worry about precise positioning.
- The direct crafting recipe for Black Dragon Wings is separate from the dye recipe. You can use either method to obtain that wing type.
- This dye system currently applies to the four wing types listed above. Other wing types may not have dye recipes.
Practical Tips
When you want a specific color, first check if you have the white wing variant available. If not, craft or obtain that white wing before applying the dye. Since the recipes are shapeless, you can combine the items in any order within the crafting grid.
For Black Dragon Wings, if you have access to Honeycomb, Dragon's Breath, and an Elytra, the shaped recipe offers a direct path. Otherwise, dyeing a White Dragon Wings with black dye is the simpler route.
Keep in mind that the dye recipes consume the white wing and the dye to produce the colored result. There is no indication that the color can be removed or reverted back to white, so choose your colors carefully.
