Ice and Fire Gear, the Dragonforge and Where to Explore

guide

This guide covers the equipment side of Ice and Fire and the three places the mod adds to the world.

The recipe list is short and lopsided

383 of the mod's 413 recipes are ordinary crafting. The remainder is 16 smelting, 6 blasting, 5 stonecutting and 3 Dragonforge entries.

For a mod with 290 items, that means nearly everything you can make is made at a bench from things you have gathered. There is no processing chain to build and no intermediate tier to unlock — the gate is entirely on materials.

The Dragonforge holds three recipes

Three recipes is the whole specialised bench. Whatever it makes is meant to be rare rather than routine, and the forge is a destination in progression rather than a workhorse. Do not plan a base around it.

The three structures

All three are dense by the standards of this wiki, so none require an expedition. The Graveyard at 28 and 8 is the most common of the three.

Note what is absent: dragons themselves have no structure. They generate in the world rather than in a lair you can locate on a map, so hunting one is a matter of travel and luck rather than finding the right building.

Stonecutting is nearly absent

Five stonecutting recipes in a mod with 123 blocks means there is essentially no block-variant conversion here. If you want a decorative palette, this is not the mod for it — the blocks exist to support the creatures and the gear.

Version, and the gap

The only build is 2.1.13 for 1.20.1, and it is a beta. There is no 1.21.1 release, so anything you plan around this mod is locked to the older line.

Practical order

Gather first, craft second. With 383 of the recipes sitting in a plain crafting grid, the bench is never the obstacle — the materials are, and most of them come off something that was trying to kill you.
