IMBlocker Compatibility Settings for Windows, Linux, and Mods

guide

IMBlocker controls how your input method editor behaves inside Minecraft, and its compatibility options let you tune that behaviour for Windows, Linux, and individual mods. Everything below is operated from the mod's settings interface, where each entry is a labelled control with its own explanation.

Windows Compatibility Settings

The Windows Compatibility Settings group holds options specific to how the mod talks to Windows input methods.

  • Allow ConversionStatus API — turns the ConversionStatus interface on or off. This interface is what drives the English state. With it switched off, the CONVERSION_STATUS English state implementation stops functioning.
  • Caret Position Tracking — tracks where the text caret sits so the mod can position things correctly.
  • Composition Font Tweaks — adjusts how composition text is drawn.
  • Render Candidates Manually If Exclusive FS Enabled — draws the candidate list yourself when exclusive fullscreen is active. Use this only when your IME's own candidate window cannot be seen in exclusive fullscreen. The IME's native candidate window offers more features, so prefer it whenever it is visible.

Linux Compatibility Settings

The Linux Compatibility Settings group covers keyboard handling and the command-line arguments used to switch input methods on and off.

  • Enable callback-level Keyboard Patch — applies a patch that stops non-character keys from reaching the game while candidates are on screen. One side effect: if the candidate window closes because Backspace cleared your pre-edit text, the game can no longer process non-character keys. Press Esc or enter any character to recover.
  • IBus Enable Command Argument and IBus Disable Command Argument — the arguments passed to IBus to turn the IME on and off. To work out the right value, run `ibus engine <argument>` in a terminal and check whether it enables or disables the IME.
  • Fcitx5 Enable Command Argument and Fcitx5 Disable Command Argument — the same idea for Fcitx5. Run `fcitx5-remote <argument>` in a terminal and see whether it turns the IME on or off.
  • Fcitx5 Enabled Identifier — the value that indicates Fcitx5 is currently on. Run `fcitx5-remote` in a terminal; whatever it prints back is the identifier to enter here.

English State Implementation

English State Implementation selects how the mod applies the English state. Three choices are described:

  • CONVERSION_STATUS — normally the right pick only for people using Microsoft IME.
  • RIME — the main choice for Weasel, Squirrel, and fcitx5-rime.
  • DISABLE_IM — choose this if your IME will not switch to English on its own. You then unlock the IME yourself with the relevant hotkey, which defaults to R-Shift.

Primary English State sets which English state the IME starts in when a text field gains focus. It is aimed mainly at Chinese users who search with JECh. It has no effect on the chat field or on mods that involve little searching.

Mod Compatibility Settings

Mod Compatibility Settings contains per-mod adjustments. SFM: Show Line Number is one such toggle.

Screen Handling

Enable Screen Recovering turns screen recovery on. The recorded screens list shows every screen that has been captured, and you edit the whitelist from there. Screens on that list are the ones that will activate your IME.

Char Simulation-preferred Screens lists screens where focus is found by simulating a character. This method pinpoints the focus owner with complete accuracy. The probe character is usually absorbed safely by the injection, though it can cause compatibility trouble in some situations.

Command Prefix Regex defines the pattern used to recognise command prefixes.
