Chemical Reactors, Crystallizers, and Fluid Processing for Advanced Materials

guide

Chemical reactors, crystallizers, and fluid processing form the backbone of advanced material production in Immersive Geology, turning raw ores into the acidic mixtures and compound dusts needed for refinement.

The Chemical Reactor Multiblock

The Chemical Reactor is a multiblock machine built to create acidic mixtures that are vital for ore refinement. It can be formed with the Stainless Steel Work Hammer.

Items go in through a hopper placed on top of the machine. Fluids are added to tanks on the left, back, and right sides. These input fluid tanks are interchangeable, so any one of them can serve any recipe.

If a tank holds leftover fluid, you can pull it out with a Pump, letting you keep unused fluid rather than losing it.

Both outputs sit at the front of the machine. The fluid output flows automatically into connected tanks, but without a pump it will only drain into tanks positioned lower than the machine. The item output is not automatic — you need an Extracting Conveyor Belt to remove items.

Powering the redstone input disables the machine and halts any recipe in progress. Only the energy already spent is lost; no items or fluids are wasted. While the machine is off, internal items can be pulled from the bottom of the multiblock.

Chemical Reactor Recipes

The Chemical Reactor has 35 recipes. Examples include outputs of compound_dust_aluminum (including a x3 yield), compound_dust_calcium (including a x7 yield), compound_dust_manganese, compound_dust_neodymium, compound_dust_osmium (with many recipes producing it), compound_dust_platinum, compound_dust_sodium (including a x3 yield), compound_dust_tungsten, and fertilizer.

The Small Chemical Reactor

The Small Chemical Reactor has 32 recipes. Its examples overlap heavily with the larger machine: compound_dust_aluminum (including a x3 yield), compound_dust_calcium (including a x7 yield), compound_dust_manganese, compound_dust_neodymium, compound_dust_osmium (many recipes), compound_dust_platinum, and compound_dust_sodium.

The Basic Chemical Reactor

The Basic Chemical Reactor combines up to two fluids and one item. It can be formed with the Stainless Steel Work Hammer.

Items are inserted via a hopper on the back. Fluids go into tanks on the left and right sides, and these input tanks are interchangeable for any recipe. Leftover fluid in a tank can be removed with a Pump so it is not wasted.

The item output is at the front, while the fluid output sits to the right. The fluid output flows automatically into connected tanks, but without a pump it only drains into tanks lower than the machine. Items require an Extracting Conveyor Belt to leave the machine.

Powering the redstone input disables the machine and stops any active recipe. Only energy already consumed is lost — no items or fluids are wasted.

Damage and Acid Handling

Some acids, such as Hydrochloric Acid, will damage the stainless steel inside the Basic Chemical Reactor. This damage can be repaired with a Stainless Steel Plate. If you try to reform the machine to reset the damage counter, Ruined Sheetmetal will have replaced a proportional amount of the Stainless Steel Sheetmetal based on how much damage was taken.
