Configuring the InventoryHUD+ On-Screen Inventory Display

guide

InventoryHUD+ shows your inventory on screen while you play, and its settings let you control how that display looks and behaves. This guide covers transparency, vertical and horizontal layout, mini mode, empty slots, item counts, and pickup animations.

Opening the Settings

The settings screen is titled Inventory HUD+ Settings. From there you reach the Inventory HUD options, the Potion HUD options, and the Armor HUD controls. Several toggles also exist as separate actions, so you can flip a HUD on or off without opening the full settings screen: use the action that toggles InventoryHUD, the one that toggles PotionHUD, the one that toggles ArmorHUD, or the one that toggles all HUDs at once. Each of these actions is bound to its corresponding hotkey (set it in the controls menu).

Transparency

Background transparency for the inventory display is adjustable on a scale from 0 to 100. The Potion HUD has its own transparency setting, also on a 0 to 100 scale, so the two displays can be tuned independently. There is also an option to hide the background entirely when your inventory is empty, which keeps the screen clean when there is nothing to show.

Vertical and Horizontal Mode

The inventory display can run in one of two orientations. Vertical mode arranges the display one way, and horizontal mode arranges it the other. Pick whichever fits the edge of the screen you prefer. A separate toggle switches horizontal mode on and off, so you can flip between the two layouts quickly.

Mini Mode

Mini mode shrinks the inventory display into a more compact form. It has its own toggle. The Potion HUD has a mini mode toggle as well. When the Potion HUD is in mini mode, a duration setting controls how many seconds a full bar represents.

Empty Slots

You can show or hide the icons for empty slots. Turning empty slot icons off leaves only your actual items visible, which makes a sparse inventory look tidier.

Item Counts

An option shows the overall count of items held in your main hand and off hand. There is also a setting for whether arrows are counted when you have no weapon equipped; with it enabled, the arrow count appears even when your hands are empty of weapons.

Pickup Animations

An animation toggle controls whether recently picked up items are animated. With it on, newly collected items get a visual highlight as they arrive in your inventory.

A few more settings affect what appears alongside the inventory. Durability can be shown in several forms: as a percentage from 0 to 100, as the damage already dealt to the item, as the damage the item can still take, or turned off entirely. Overlay durability bars can be toggled separately, and you can hide an item once its durability rises above a percentage you choose. For positioning, one setting changes the position of all items at once, while the other moves each item individually. Separate options control whether the Inventory HUD, Potion HUD, and Armor HUD remain visible when the debug GUI is on.

Potion HUD Details

Beyond transparency and mini mode, the Potion HUD lets you set the gap between effect icons on a scale from -5 to 5. You can show icons for hidden effects and maintain a list of effects whose icons are disabled. One setting makes the Potion HUD display all effect levels, rather than using an infinity symbol for effects above level nine.

Armor HUD Details

The Armor HUD can be toggled on or off, and the items shown within it can be toggled separately.

Handy Toggles

If you only need a quick switch, the dedicated toggle actions cover the whole set: all HUDs together, the Potion HUD alone, or the Armor HUD alone. Bind them to the corresponding hotkeys in the controls menu and you can change your display mid-game without digging through settings.
