Hiding Inventory Background Tints in InvMove (Pause Screens and Per-Inventory Overrides)

guide

InvMove's Hide Inventory Backgrounds feature removes the dark tint that normally covers the game view while an inventory or similar screen is open. The module has its own enable option that turns the tint-hiding behavior on or off, and you can also disable it for individual inventories rather than globally.

Turning the feature on

Set enable under Hide Inventory Backgrounds to activate tint hiding. Once active, the background tint disappears whenever you open a supported inventory. If you prefer to leave the tint in place for specific screens, you can switch those off one by one using the per-inventory toggles described below.

Pause screens

The hideOnPause option controls how screens that pause the game are treated. It accepts three values:

  • Show — the background tint is always displayed on pause screens.
  • ShowSP — the tint is displayed in singleplayer, but in other situations the screen is allowed to hide it.
  • AllowHide — the background is permitted to be hidden on pause screens.

Note that some menus are themselves pause screens. For example, the advancements menu is a pause screen, so its behavior may be overridden by the hideOnPause setting rather than by its own per-inventory toggle.

Per-inventory overrides

The tint-hiding module lets you manually turn off certain inventories. Each supported inventory has its own toggle, so you can keep the tint hidden in most screens while leaving it visible in the ones you choose. These per-inventory settings apply on top of the main enable switch — the global option must be on for any of them to matter.

Movement settings that interact with screens

InvMove also controls movement inside inventories, and several related options affect how screens behave:

  • enable under Move In Inventories allows you to move while an inventory is open. It has a keybind you can assign to toggle it, and you can manually disable movement for specific inventories.
  • sneak disallowed sets sneaking behavior in inventories where movement is turned off. Off unsneaks automatically, Maintain keeps you sneaking if you were when the screen opened, Pressed sneaks only while the sneak button is held, and MaintainWhilePressed keeps sneaking until you release the button. With toggle sneak, Pressed allows toggling while the other two modes maintain.
  • sneak flying sets the same kind of behavior for inventories with movement enabled while you are creative flying, using the same four values.
  • textFieldDisables stops movement inside an inventory when a text field has focus.
  • unrecognizedScreenDefault chooses the default state for newly encountered, unrecognized UIs.
  • toggleMove is the toggle for UI movement.

Other options

  • debugDisplay turns on a debug display.
  • nooptions indicates a module that has no settings to configure.
  • desc for the key-handling section explains that only keys marked "Allow" are processed by the mod.
  • desc for the unrecognized UI section explains that unrecognized GUIs appear there after you have interacted with them.

Operating the mod

Open the mod's interface to reach these settings. Use the enable switches to turn the overall tint-hiding and movement features on or off, and use the individual inventory toggles to make exceptions. For the movement toggle, assign the corresponding hotkey in the controls menu. Pause-screen handling is chosen through the hideOnPause values, and the sneak-related modes are selected from their respective option lists.
