Managing Keybinds, Unrecognized Screens, and Per-Screen Movement in InvMove
InvMove lets you keep moving around while a container or menu is open, and its interface gives you control over which keys count, how unfamiliar screens behave, and where movement is allowed. Everything is handled through the mod's own settings and hotkeys rather than through crafting or items.
Turning the mod on and off
The main enable option is what allows movement while you have an inventory open. With it active, you can still disable movement for individual screens further down. There is also a keybind you can assign for toggling this on and off quickly — set it in the controls menu and press it whenever you want to switch.
A separate debugDisplay option turns on a debug display if you need to inspect what the mod is doing.
Sneaking behavior
Sneaking has its own set of modes, and the same four choices appear in more than one place. The possible values are:
- Off — no sneaking at all.
- Maintain — you stay sneaked if you already were when the screen opened.
- Pressed — you sneak only while the sneak button is held. This can be distracting when shift-clicking.
- MaintainWhilePressed — you stay sneaked until you let go of the sneak button.
If you use toggle sneak, Pressed still lets you toggle, while the two maintain modes keep the state as described.
These modes apply in three situations. The first is sneaking in general while inside inventories. The second is sneak disallowed, which controls what happens in screens where movement has been turned off — Off here means you automatically stop sneaking, matching vanilla behavior. The third is sneak flying, which covers sneaking inside movement-enabled screens while you are flying in creative mode.
Other movement actions
Separate toggles exist for allowing jumping while a screen is open and for allowing dismounting while a screen is open. Each can be turned on or off independently of the main movement setting.
Text fields
The textFieldDisables option stops movement whenever a text field has focus. This is useful so that typing into a search box or naming field does not also move your character.
Unrecognized screens
The unrecognizedScreenDefault setting decides the starting state for any new UI the mod does not already know about. Unrecognized GUIs are collected under Unrecognized UI Types, and a screen appears there after you have interacted with it at least once. From that list you can adjust how each one behaves.
Hiding inventory backgrounds
The enable option for hiding backgrounds removes the tint behind an open inventory, and you can switch this off for specific screens individually. The hideOnPause setting covers screens that pause the game, with three choices: Show always keeps the background visible, ShowSP keeps it visible in singleplayer but permits hiding elsewhere, and AllowHide lets the background be hidden.
Key handling and toggling movement
The keybind handling section notes that only keys marked Allow are processed by the mod, so any key you want InvMove to respond to must be set that way. A toggleMove control is available for toggling UI movement, and the advancements screen is flagged as a pause screen, meaning its option may be overridden by the pause-screen setting. Some modules simply have no settings, in which case you will see a note that no options are available.
