Configuring Movement, Jumping, Dismounting, Sneak Modes, and Text Fields in InvMove
InvMove lets you keep moving, jumping, and sneaking while an inventory or other interface is open, and its settings control exactly how that behaves. Everything is handled through the mod's interface and hotkeys rather than any crafting recipe.
Enabling the Mod and Movement
The master enable option, labeled Move In Inventories, allows movement while you are inside inventories. You can switch off movement for individual inventories afterward if you want some screens to stay locked. A keybind can also be set to toggle this behavior on and off, so assign the corresponding hotkey in the controls menu if you want quick access.
debugDisplay turns on a debug display, which is useful if you want to see what the mod is doing.
Sneak Modes
Sneaking inside inventories is governed by a set of modes, and the same four choices appear in more than one place:
- Off — no sneaking occurs.
- Maintain — you keep sneaking if you were already sneaking when the inventory opened.
- Pressed — you sneak only while the sneak button is held.
- MaintainWhilePressed — sneaking continues until you release the sneak button.
Note that Pressed can feel distracting when you are shift-clicking. If you use toggle sneak, Pressed allows toggling, while the other two modes maintain the state.
Three separate settings use these modes. The main sneak setting controls sneaking while inside inventories generally. Sneak Mode When Disallowed determines behavior inside inventories where movement is disabled — here Off means you automatically unsneak, matching vanilla behavior. Sneak Mode When Creative Flying determines behavior inside movement-enabled inventories while you are flying in creative mode.
Jumping, Dismounting, and Text Fields
Separate options allow jumping while inside inventories and allow dismounting while inside inventories. Turn these on if you want those actions available without closing the screen.
Text Field Disables Movement stops movement in inventories whenever a text field has focus. This is helpful when you are typing into a search box or similar field and do not want your movement keys to register.
Backgrounds and Unrecognized Screens
The Hide Inventory Backgrounds option, controlled by its own enable setting, hides the background tint while you are inside inventories. Individual inventories can be turned off manually. Pause Screens Background decides how screens that pause the game are treated: Show always shows the background, ShowSP shows it in singleplayer but otherwise allows hiding, and AllowHide permits the background to be hidden.
Unrecognized Screens Default sets the default state for new unrecognized interfaces. Unrecognized UI types appear in a list once they have been interacted with, and you can adjust them there. Keys are only handled by the mod if they are marked "Allow."
Other Interface Notes
Toggle UI Movement is available as a control. Some modules have no settings at all, in which case the interface simply reports that there are no options. Also be aware that the advancements menu counts as a pause screen, so its background option may be overridden by the pause screen setting.
