Iron Chests Restocked: Chest Tiers and Upgrades
Iron Chests: Restocked adds a full ladder of storage blocks, from 
Copper Chest up to 
Netherite Chest, along with matching barrels and a set of upgrades that let you improve a chest in place. This guide covers how each tier is made and how the upgrade items fit into the chain.
The Upgrade Chain
Every chest tier has a matching upgrade item, and upgrades are built on a shared base. Start by crafting a 
Blank Chest Upgrade from eight 
Oak Planks and one 
Flint. From there, each upgrade swaps in the material of the tier you want:
Copper Chest Upgrade: eight 
Copper Ingot plus a Blank Chest Upgrade
Iron Chest Upgrade: eight 
Iron Ingot plus a Blank Chest Upgrade
Gold Chest Upgrade: eight 
Gold Ingot plus a Blank Chest Upgrade
Diamond Chest Upgrade: six Gold Ingot, two 
Diamond, plus a Blank Chest Upgrade
Obsidian Chest Upgrade: eight 
Obsidian plus a Blank Chest Upgrade
Crystal Chest Upgrade: eight 
Glass plus a Blank Chest Upgrade
The 
Netherite Chest Upgrade is the exception. It is not crafted at a crafting table — it comes from a smithing transform that combines a Diamond Chest Upgrade with a 
Netherite Ingot.
Crafting Chests Directly
If you would rather build a chest from scratch than upgrade one, each tier has its own recipe. The metal tiers follow a pattern of eight ingots around the previous tier's chest:
- Copper Chest: eight Copper Ingot plus a
Chest 
Iron Chest: eight Iron Ingot plus a Copper Chest
Gold Chest: eight Gold Ingot plus an Iron Chest
Diamond Chest: six Gold Ingot, two Diamond, plus a Gold Chest
Obsidian Chest: eight Obsidian plus a Diamond Chest
Crystal Chest: six Glass, two 
Amethyst Shard, plus a Diamond Chest
The Netherite Chest is made through a smithing transform: a Diamond Chest combined with a Netherite Ingot.
Barrels
Barrels mirror the chest tiers and use the same materials, but each recipe is built on the barrel of the tier below rather than a chest.
Copper Barrel: eight Copper Ingot plus a 
Barrel
Iron Barrel: eight Iron Ingot plus a Copper Barrel
Gold Barrel: eight Gold Ingot plus an Iron Barrel
Diamond Barrel: six Gold Ingot, two Diamond, plus a Gold Barrel
Obsidian Barrel: eight Obsidian plus a Diamond Barrel
Crystal Barrel: six Glass, two Amethyst Shard, plus a Diamond Barrel
As with chests, the top tier is a smithing transform: a Diamond Barrel plus a Netherite Ingot gives a 
Netherite Barrel.
Dollies
Moving a filled chest is normally a chore, and the 
Iron Dolly and 
Diamond Dolly exist for that job. The Iron Dolly is crafted from four Iron Ingot and a 
Slimeball. The Diamond Dolly is crafted from four Diamond and a Slimeball.
Keys and Locks
The mod also provides access control items. A 
Key is crafted from one 
Iron Nugget and five Iron Ingot. A 
Key Ring holds keys together and is crafted from six Iron Ingot and three 
Chain. A 
Lock is crafted from six Gold Ingot and one 
Gold Nugget.
Planning Your Upgrades
Because upgrades and direct crafting both exist, you can pick the route that suits your materials. Upgrading preserves the chest you already have and only costs the new tier's materials plus a Blank Chest Upgrade, while direct crafting lets you build a tier from raw ingredients when you have no lower chest to work from. The Netherite Chest Upgrade, Netherite Chest, and Netherite Barrel all sit at the end of the chain and require a smithing transform rather than a crafting table.
