Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks: Casting Your First Spells
Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks brings classic RPG spellcasting to Minecraft, with over 100 upgradable spells. This guide covers how to start casting.
Scrolls: your first magic
Scrolls are your first taste of magic. A scroll can be consumed to cast the spell it holds once, but it is better to save scrolls until you can inscribe them into a spell book for repeated use.
Spell books and inscription
To cast spells repeatedly you need a Spell Book. Using the
Inscription Table, you inscribe a scroll's spell into the book, and the scroll can be retrieved later. From then on you cast that spell from the book, spending mana rather than the scroll.
Inks and spell tiers
Crafting spells uses inks graded by rarity —
Common Ink makes the lowest-level spells, with uncommon, rare, epic and legendary inks unlocking progressively more powerful ones. Rare and higher inks are found in magic treasure chests or dropped by spellcasting mobs, so hunting wizards is part of building your spell list. The progression guide covers upgrading spells and gear at the Arcane Anvil.
