Item Scroller Guide: Move Items by Scrolling and Dragging in Minecraft GUIs

guide

Item Scroller is a Minecraft utility mod that lets you move items around inside inventory screens using your mouse wheel or by dragging the cursor across slots, instead of clicking each stack individually. All of its behavior is configured through an in-game settings screen and triggered through key binds you assign yourself.

How Scrolling and Dragging Work

Hover your cursor over a stack and roll the mouse wheel to send items to the opposite inventory. Two separate modes control how much moves at once: one sends a single item per scroll step, and another sends the whole stack. Each of these modes can have its scroll direction flipped independently if the default feels backwards to you.

Dragging works by holding down a key while sweeping the cursor over slots. Different keys exist for different drag results: moving one item per stack, moving every stack, moving all but one item from each stack, and moving only stacks that match what you're dragging. The same set of drag behaviors exists for dropping items instead of moving them. There are also keys for pushing items up or down within the inventory, again with variants for single items, full stacks, matching items, and leaving one behind.

Modifier keys expand scrolling further. Holding the modifierMoveStack key while scrolling sends the entire stack. Holding modifierMoveMatching sends every matching stack. Holding modifierMoveEverything sends everything at once. A fallback scrolling mode exists for grids where shift-clicking doesn't function, such as a vanilla crafting table.

Main Toggles

Several options switch whole categories of behavior on or off. enableScrollingSingle and enableScrollingStacks control the two scroll modes. enableScrollingEverything and enableScrollingMatchingStacks govern the modifier-based variants, while enableScrollingStacksFallback handles the fallback mode. enableShiftDropItems and enableShiftPlaceItems let a shift-click drop or place every matching stack in one action. enableDropkeyDropMatching makes the drop key remove all matching items from the inventory. enableCraftingFeatures turns on scrolling items into and out of crafting grids, along with a memory of eighteen recipes. enableRightClickCraftingOneStack allows a right-click on a configured crafting output slot to produce up to a full stack. enableScrollingVillager adds shift-scroll support over trade output slots, and enableVillagerTradeFeatures covers favoriting trades and quick-trading them. A master toggle, modMainToggle, disables the entire mod, and toggleModOnOff flips it from a key bind.

Config GUI and Utility Keys

openConfigGui opens the settings interface where every option above lives. modMainToggle sits there as the global on/off switch. Other utility binds include sortInventory for sorting whatever inventory you're hovering, recipeView for opening the recipe display, storeRecipe for saving a recipe from a crafting output slot, slotDebug for printing slot information, and dropAllMatching for discarding every stack identical to the one under your cursor. Crafting-related binds include craftEverything, massCraft, massCraftToggle, moveCraftResults, and throwCraftResults. Villager binds include villagerTradeFavorites and modifierToggleVillagerGlobalFavorite.

Sorting and Crafting Settings

The sorting options let you control order in detail. sortMethodDefault picks how items compare, with category, name, count, rarity, and raw ID as available criteria. sortCategoryOrder sets the category sequence. sortTopPriorityInventory and sortBottomPriorityInventory accept item IDs or custom names to force certain items to the front or back. sortShulkerBoxesAtEnd, sortShulkerBoxesInverted, sortBundlesAtEnd, sortBundlesInverted, and sortAssumeEmptyBoxStacks refine where boxes and bundles land.

Crafting settings include craftingRecipesSaveToFile and craftingRecipesSaveFileIsGlobal for recipe persistence, craftingRenderRecipeItems for drawing recipe items, useRecipeCaching and massCraftInhibitMidUpdates for reducing processor load, and massCraftInterval, massCraftIterations, massCraftHold, massCraftSwapsOnly, and massCraftUseRecipeBook for mass-crafting behavior. Note that massCraftHold, massCraftToggle, and massCraftUseRecipeBook conflict with rateLimitClickPackets, which throttles outgoing click packets for server compatibility. clientCraftingFixOn1 12 repairs quick and mass crafting on that version, and carpetCtrlQCraftingEnabledOnServer changes the method used for drop-key crafting when a server runs Carpet with that option active.

Assign every key mentioned above in the controls menu, since no defaults are assumed here.
