Why Upgrade to Netherite
Standard jewelry uses gold as its base metal, which is soft and wears down quickly during use. Netherite versions are more resilient, making them a better long-term investment for players who rely on their jewelry’s effects in frequent or dangerous situations. The gem itself (citrine, ruby, or sapphire) remains the source of the magical effect; only the metal framework changes. This means you get the same gem-based benefits but with a sturdier item that lasts longer before needing repair or replacement.
Crafting the Netherite Ring Upgrades
Each netherite ring is crafted in a shaped pattern that replaces the two gold ingots of the standard ring recipe with a single netherite ingot. The gem sits at the center of the arrangement.
Netherite Citrine Ring: Place a 
Citrine in the center, flanked by two 
Gold Ingots on the left and right, and a 
Netherite Ingot below the citrine.
Netherite Ruby Ring: Same layout as above, but use a 
Ruby instead of citrine.
Netherite Sapphire Ring: Same layout as above, but use a 
Sapphire instead of citrine.
In all three cases, the final product is a ring that retains the gem’s original effect while gaining the netherite’s improved durability.
Crafting the Netherite Necklace Upgrades
Necklace upgrades follow a similar logic but use a different base layout. The standard necklace recipe already calls for a piece of 
String and two 
Gold Nuggets; the netherite version swaps one of those components for a Netherite Ingot, while keeping the string and gold nuggets as part of the chain.
Netherite Citrine Necklace: Arrange a String at the top, then a Gold Nugget on the left and a Gold Nugget on the right, with a Netherite Ingot below the nuggets, and the Citrine at the bottom.
Netherite Ruby Necklace: Use the exact same layout, but place a Ruby at the bottom instead of citrine.
Netherite Sapphire Necklace: Use the exact same layout, but place a Sapphire at the bottom instead of citrine.
The necklace’s shape means the gem hangs at the bottom, while the netherite ingot sits in the middle of the chain, reinforcing the link between the two gold nuggets.
Material Requirements
Before crafting any netherite jewelry, gather the following:
- One Netherite Ingot for each piece of jewelry you want to upgrade.
- Two Gold Ingots for a ring, or two Gold Nuggets plus one String for a necklace.
- The specific gemstone (Citrine, Ruby, or Sapphire) that matches the effect you want.
Note that the recipes are shaped, so the items must be placed in the crafting grid exactly as described. There is no way to upgrade an existing gold ring or necklace directly; you must craft the netherite version from raw materials.
Practical Considerations
Because netherite ingots are costly to obtain, prioritize upgrading jewelry you use most often. Rings are cheaper in gold (using ingots) but require more total material than necklaces (which use nuggets). Necklaces, however, also need string. The netherite version of any piece does not change the gem’s effect—it only improves the item’s durability. If you have multiple gems of the same type, you may want to craft one netherite ring and one netherite necklace for different situations, but for most players, a single upgraded piece per gem type is sufficient.
