Notable Generated Structures to Explore in Jurassic Reborn

guide

Jurassic Reborn adds several notable generated structures to explore, including labs, a visitor centre, paddocks and the San Diego park. Each one uses its own biome tag and spacing rules, so where you look matters as much as what you are looking for. The sections below cover every structure and the placement facts behind it.

Isla Sorna Lab

The Isla Sorna Lab is one of the rarest structures in the mod. It generates only in biomes tagged with `#jurassicreborn:has_structure/isla_sorna_lab`, so it will never appear outside those biomes no matter how far you travel.

Its placement is deliberately sparse. The game makes a single attempt to place the lab per 400x400 chunk region, and any two labs must be at least 100 chunks apart. In practice this means you can cross enormous stretches of terrain without finding one, and when you do, the next is a long way off.

Visitor Centre

The Visitor Centre is the other rare, large-scale structure. Like the lab, it generates only in biomes tagged with `#jurassicreborn:has_structure/visitor_centre`.

Its placement rules match the lab's: one attempt per 400x400 chunk region, with a minimum separation of 100 chunks between instances. Because the spacing is so wide, treat a Visitor Centre as a landmark worth marking rather than something you stumble across repeatedly.

Paddocks

Two separate paddock structures exist, and both are far more common than the lab or Visitor Centre.

The Abandoned Paddock generates in biomes tagged with `#jurassicreborn:has_structure/abandoned_paddock`. The Raptor Paddock generates in biomes tagged with `#jurassicreborn:has_structure/raptor_paddock`. Each has its own biome tag, so a biome that supports one does not automatically support the other.

Their placement is identical and much denser than the rare structures. Each paddock type gets one attempt per 32x32 chunk region, with instances at least 8 chunks apart. That combination of a small region and a short minimum distance makes paddocks the structures you are most likely to encounter while simply exploring.

Jp San Diego

The Jp San Diego park sits between the two extremes in rarity. It generates in biomes tagged with `#jurassicreborn:has_structure/jp_san_diego`.

Placement uses a single attempt per 80x80 chunk region, with a minimum separation of 20 chunks between instances. That is tighter than the lab and Visitor Centre spacing but looser than the paddocks, so San Diego is uncommon without being a genuine rarity.

The biome tags do most of the work in deciding what you can find. Before setting out, identify which of the five tags the biomes around you belong to, since a structure cannot generate in a biome that lacks its tag.

The spacing numbers then tell you how to pace a search:

  • The Isla Sorna Lab and Visitor Centre use 400x400 chunk regions with 100-chunk minimum spacing, so expect long journeys between finds.
  • The Jp San Diego park uses 80x80 chunk regions with 20-chunk minimum spacing, making it a middle-ground target.
  • The Abandoned Paddock and Raptor Paddock use 32x32 chunk regions with 8-chunk minimum spacing, so they turn up frequently.

Because paddocks are placed so densely, they are a practical starting point if you want to confirm you are in the right kind of biome before committing to a longer hunt for a lab or Visitor Centre.
