Chopping Board Cuts: Four Strikes for Doubled Meat

Every chopping board recipe in Kaleidoscope Cookery takes four knife strikes and returns two items, and that fixed rule is the whole mechanic. Place the ingredient, hit it four times with a kitchen knife, and you get double what you put in.

Making the board and a knife

The Chopping Board is six oak pressure plates arranged in two rows of three, which puts it within reach on the first day of a world.

Kitchen knives all share one shape - three of the material plus a stick, arranged in a two-by-two - and come in four tiers:

• Iron Kitchen Knife from three iron ingots
• Gold Kitchen Knife from three gold ingots
• Diamond Kitchen Knife from three diamonds
• Netherite Kitchen Knife, upgraded from the diamond knife at a smithing table with a netherite upgrade template and a netherite ingot

Any knife works on any recipe; the tier affects the knife's durability and its performance as a weapon, not the cutting results.

Cutting

Place an ingredient on the board by right-clicking it, then strike it four times with a knife in hand. If Jade is installed it reports the cut count and the number still needed, so you can see the progress rather than counting swings.

The full recipe list

Sixteen recipes exist, and each one yields two of the output:

• Raw Beef into 2 Raw Cow Offal, and Steak into 2 Cooked Cow Offal
• Raw Porkchop into 2 Raw Pork Belly, and Cooked Porkchop into 2 Cooked Pork Belly
• Raw Mutton into 2 Raw Lamb Chops, and Cooked Mutton into 2 Cooked Lamb Chops
• Raw Chicken or Raw Rabbit into 2 Raw Meat Cuts, and the cooked versions of both into 2 Cooked Meat Cuts
• Raw Cod, Raw Salmon or Tropical Fish into 2 Sashimi
• Cooked Cod or Cooked Salmon into 2 Bone
• Raw Dough into 2 Raw Noodles

Why it matters

The board is not a side feature; it is the supply line for the rest of the mod. Wok and stockpot recipes are written around cuts rather than vanilla meat - Raw Cow Offal feeds Beef Noodle and Borscht, Raw Pork Belly feeds Braised Pork Ribs, Raw Lamb Chops feed Blaze Lamb Chop - so without a board most of the cooking list is simply unavailable.

The doubling is the second reason. Every piece of meat you chop before cooking is worth two, which halves the size of the animal farm behind your kitchen. Chop first, cook second, and a modest pen keeps a full restaurant running.

The odd one out is worth remembering when you need it: cooked fish chops into bone rather than food, which is a quiet source of bone meal for a farm with a fishing operation attached.
