Legendary Monsters: Thirteen Structures and Their Bosses

guide

Legendary Monsters adds bosses and the places they wait. This guide covers where they generate and how the two builds compare.

The two versions are identical

94 crafting recipes, 46 stonecutting, 14 smithing transform and 3 smelting — the same on 1.21.1 and 1.20.1, both at version 2.2.2.

That is unusual on this wiki and convenient: any guide written for either line applies exactly to the other, with no category to check.

Fourteen smithing recipes carry the gear

For a mod with 154 items, having only 14 smithing transforms means upgrades are deliberate and few. Most items are drops rather than crafts — 94 crafting recipes against 154 items leaves a large gap that bosses fill.

Thirteen structures, spanning an enormous range

The gap between the top and bottom is extreme: the Warped Fungussus Nest at a spacing of 7 is roughly fifteen times denser than the Collapsed Kingdom at 110.

Read it as three trips

The 7/5 nest is scenery — you cannot avoid it. The 30 to 40 band (Lava Eater, Skeletosaurus, the temples, the pyramid) is normal exploration. The 65 trio and the 100 to 110 tier are expeditions you plan for.

Note that all three of the rarest structures have very high separations too (70 to 80), so they are spread evenly rather than clustered. Finding one tells you nothing about where the next is.

Scale

197 pages across 154 items and 43 blocks, on 2.2.2 for both lines — NeoForge on 1.21.1, Forge on 1.20.1.

Where to start

Clear a Warped Fungussus Nest first; at a spacing of 7 one is always nearby. Work up through the 35-to-40 temples before attempting anything in the 65-plus tier.
