Let's Do Meadow: Cheese, Felting and Alpine Building
Let's Do Meadow adds alpine farming, dairy and a village-style building set. This guide covers its bespoke systems and where the two builds differ.
Three systems of its own
- Cooking — 19 recipes, on both builds
- Cheese — 7 recipes, on both builds
- Felting — 7 recipes on 1.21.1, and none on 1.20.1
Cheese having its own recipe category in a mod of this size tells you it is a real production chain rather than a single food item. Felting existing only on the newer build is the one content gap between versions.
Crafting and the block palette
125 crafting recipes on 1.21.1 (116 on 1.20.1) and 23 stonecutting on both. With 118 blocks against 70 items, this is as much a building mod as a food one — the alpine block set is a substantial part of what you get.
Heat processing is unusually large for a food mod
12 smelting recipes and 9 blasting on both builds, against a single campfire and a single smoking recipe. Blasting having nine entries is notable: normally a food mod barely touches the blast furnace, so those nine are likely ores or building materials rather than meals.
Five structures
- Chapel — spacing 74, separation 27
- Chalet — spacing 49, separation 22
- Observation Post — spacing 33, separation 17
- Logging Camp — spacing 30, separation 28
The Chapel at 74 is a genuine landmark; the Logging Camp and Observation Post in the low 30s are what you meet while travelling. Note the Logging Camp's separation of 28 against a spacing of 30 — they are pushed almost fully apart, so you will not find two together.
Version note
1.4.8 on NeoForge for 1.21.1, 1.3.25 on Forge for 1.20.1. Beyond felting, the difference is nine crafting recipes.
Where to start
Cheese needs milk, and milk needs animals, so the opening move is pastoral rather than architectural. The 7-recipe cheese chain is the most distinctive thing here and the reason to install the mod.
The full recipe picture
Counting every category, 1.21.1 carries about 205 recipes and 1.20.1 about 189. The difference is the 7 felting recipes plus 9 crafting ones — everything else is identical, including cooking at 19, cheese at 7, stonecutting at 23, smelting at 12 and blasting at 9.
That makes this one of the more version-stable mods in this batch: pick either line and the cheese chain, the cooking list and the whole block palette behave the same.
The building set is half the mod
118 blocks against 70 items. Let's Do Meadow is usually described as a dairy and farming mod, but by page count the alpine block set is the larger half. If you install it for cheese, expect to end up building with it too.
