Lightman's Currency Guide: Coin Mint, Smithing Transform, Upgrades, ATM, Paygate, and Network Traders

guide

Lightman's Currency adds a full economy system built around coins, upgrades, and automated trading, and this guide covers the Coin Mint, the Smithing Transform, upgrade items, the ATM, paygates, and network traders.

Coin Mint

The Coin Mint is where you convert between coins and their base materials. It has 12 recipes in total. The conversions work in both directions, so you can mint coins from raw materials or break coins back down into ingots and gems.

The gem and ingot inputs use tag-based ingredients, meaning any item matching the diamond gem, emerald gem, or netherite ingot tag works in those recipes.

Smithing Transform

The Smithing Transform is the upgrade station for the mod. It has 27 recipes, and nearly all of them follow the same shape: a Smithing Template, a base item, and a material that determines the result. This is where you build up every upgrade tier and unlock the mod's advanced features.

Several recipes produce entirely new upgrade items:

Other recipes upgrade existing upgrades to higher tiers. The pattern is consistent: each tier feeds into the next with a stronger material.

  • Interaction Upgrade climbs from Emerald to Diamond to Netherite, using diamond gems and then netherite ingots
  • Item Capacity Upgrade starts from a wooden chest tag plus Iron Ingot, then progresses Iron to Gold to Diamond to Netherite
  • Magnet Upgrade begins with an ender pearl plus Copper Ingot, then Copper to Iron to Gold to Emerald
  • Speed Upgrade starts with a Clock plus Iron Ingot, then Iron to Gold to Emerald to Diamond to Netherite
  • Trade Offer Upgrade begins with a Trading Core plus Copper Ingot, then Copper to Gold to Emerald to Diamond

Smithing Template

You need a Smithing Template for every Smithing Transform recipe, so it is worth knowing how to make more. It is craftable in three shaped recipes:

ATM

The ATM is a core component, since it is used to craft both the Bank Upgrade and the Coin Exchange Upgrade on the Smithing Transform. It is made with a shaped recipe:

  • Six Iron Ingot, two colorless glass panes, and Redstone Dust

There is also a shapeless recipe that converts an ATM back into an ATM, so you can cycle the item through your crafting grid without losing it.

Paygate and Network Traders

The Network Upgrade, crafted from a Smithing Template, an Eye of Ender, and a Gold Ingot, is the pathway into networked trading setups. Paygates and network traders rely on these upgrade items to function, so plan your upgrade tiers before you build.

For traders specifically, the tiers chain upward through crafting. Item Network Trader T4 is made with a shaped recipe:

Build your lower trader tiers first, then combine them upward. Because the higher tiers depend on the tier below, stockpile the intermediate items rather than crafting each one as you need it.

Putting It Together

Start by crafting a Smithing Template and an ATM, then use the Smithing Transform to produce a Bank Upgrade and a Coin Exchange Upgrade. From there, work through the upgrade chains you need — capacity, speed, magnets, interaction, or trade offers — and push them toward their netherite tiers. Mint coins as required at the Coin Mint, and expand into network traders once your upgrades support them.
