Lunar Mod Setup Guide: Opening the Interface and Finding Settings
Lunar is a Minecraft utility mod that you operate entirely through its on-screen interface and hotkeys rather than through crafting recipes. This guide covers the basics of getting started, opening the interface, and locating the settings that control the mod's behavior.
Opening the Lunar Interface
Lunar does not use items, crafting tables, or in-game recipes. Everything is accessed through its own interface, which you bring up with a hotkey. The mod does not assign a fixed key for this on its own; you bind the interface key yourself in the game's controls menu. Once bound, pressing that key opens the Lunar interface, where the mod's options and information are displayed.
Because the mod works through hotkeys and menus rather than physical items, there is nothing to craft or place in the world to begin using it. Your first step after setting it up is simply to assign the interface hotkey in the controls menu, then press it to open the interface.
Where the Settings Live
All of Lunar's configurable options are found inside the interface itself. After opening it, you navigate to the settings section to adjust how the mod behaves. The settings are grouped by feature, and each one has a name shown on screen.
The settings you will find include:
- lunarEventChance — controls the chance for a Lunar Event to occur.
- crimsonMoonWeight — sets the weight for the Crimson Moon.
- badOmenMoonWeight — sets the weight for the Bad Omen Moon.
- eclipseMoonWeight — sets the weight for the Eclipse Moon.
- crimsonReplacements — controls Crimson Replacements.
- bloodMoonSleeping — controls sleeping during a Blood Moon.
- crimsonMoonSleeping — controls sleeping during a Crimson Moon.
- minerMoonSleeping — controls sleeping during a Miner Moon.
- whiteMoonSleeping — controls sleeping during a White Moon.
- tinyMoonSleeping — controls sleeping during a Tiny Moon.
- badOmenMoonSleeping — controls sleeping during a Bad Omen Moon.
- heroMoonSleeping — controls sleeping during a Hero Moon.
- eclipseMoonSleeping — controls sleeping during an Eclipse Moon.
Each of these is adjusted from within the interface. The weight settings influence how likely their associated moon type is to be selected, while the sleeping settings determine whether sleeping is allowed during that particular moon.
Messages You May See
Lunar also displays status messages on screen while you play. These tell you what is happening with the mod's weather and sleep behavior:
- rain — shown when bad weather has had its effects cleansed.
- sleep canceled — shown when you attempt to sleep and are not allowed to during a particular event.
You may also encounter sync-related messages, such as a failure to sync a movement event or a failure to sync an event. These appear as on-screen notifications when the mod cannot synchronize that event.
Basic Operating Notes
- Bind the interface hotkey in the controls menu before trying to open Lunar; the mod does not provide a default key of its own.
- Open the interface with that hotkey to reach every setting.
- Adjust weights and sleeping options from the settings section inside the interface.
- Watch for on-screen messages about rain, canceled sleep, and sync failures while playing.
That covers the essentials: bind your interface key, open Lunar, and use the settings inside to configure event chances, moon weights, and sleeping rules.
