Macaw's Architectural Stairs & Slopes

guide

Macaw's Stairs introduces five distinct architectural stair profiles across all wood and stone materials to expand building options beyond vanilla stairs. Rather than relying on a single uniform stair block shape, builders can select specialized step geometries tailored to steep interiors, wide outdoor terraces, or open industrial platforms. Each profile changes both the visual silhouette and collision footprint, offering dedicated solutions for vertical ascension.

Distinct Stair Profiles

Bulk Stairs provide a thick, heavy stair profile where solid material fills the underside of each step. This creates a grounded foundation suitable for castle gatehouses, fortress walls, and load-bearing foundation ascents. In contrast to vanilla stairs that leave an open nook behind the step, bulk steps present solid mass from side and back viewing angles.

Compact Stairs deliver a steeper visual incline optimized for narrow spaces. When building inside spiral towers, tight mine shafts, or compact cottages, standard stairs consume excessive horizontal floor space. Compact stairs condense the ascension footprint, allowing players to establish vertical access without sacrificing valuable room interiors.

Loft Stairs feature an open-riser design reminiscent of wooden step ladders. The absence of solid risers beneath each tread permits light to pass through the structure. This makes loft stairs ideal for farm barns, attic entrances, libraries, and rustic cabins where bulky staircases would obstruct interior sightlines.

Skyline Stairs offer a modern, cantilevered appearance where steps project cleanly from structural supports. Their lightweight profile suits contemporary homes, watchtowers, and mountain walkways requiring an unobstructed aesthetic.

Terrace Stairs provide broad, elongated steps designed for gentle elevation changes. They excel in exterior landscaping, amphitheaters, palace approaches, and public plazas where wide steps produce natural grade transitions.

Crafting Wood Stair Profiles

Carpentry recipes utilize stripped logs and standard logs on a standard crafting table. Every variant requires specific log arrangements:

  • Bulk Stairs require three Stripped Logs and three Logs to produce six Bulk Stairs. Place stripped logs along the main diagonal from top left to bottom right. Fill the remaining lower slots beneath the diagonal with three standard logs.
  • Compact Stairs require six Stripped Logs placed in a standard six-block stair formation, producing six Compact Stairs.
  • Loft Stairs require three Stripped Logs placed along the diagonal from top left to bottom right, yielding three Loft Stairs.
  • Skyline Stairs require two Stripped Logs and one Log to produce four Skyline Stairs. Place one stripped log in the upper-left slot, one standard log in the middle-left slot, and one stripped log in the center slot.
  • Terrace Stairs require three Stripped Logs and two Logs to produce five Terrace Stairs. Place one stripped log in the upper left, one log in the middle left, one stripped log in the center, one log in the bottom center, and one stripped log in the bottom right.

Stonecutting Masonry Variants

Every stone variety supported by the mod can be shaped directly in a stonecutter. Inserting a single stone block yields one corresponding stair block of your chosen profile:

  • One stone block produces one Bulk Stairs block.
  • One stone block produces one Compact Stairs block.
  • One stone block produces one Loft Stairs block.
  • One stone block produces one Skyline Stairs block.
  • One stone block produces one Terrace Stairs block.

Supported stone materials include Andesite, Blackstone, Brick, Cobbled Deepslate, Cobblestone, Deepslate Brick, Diorite, Granite, Mossy Cobblestone, Mossy Stone Brick, Mud Brick, Nether Brick, Prismarine, Quartz, Red Nether Brick, Red Sandstone, Sandstone, and Stone Brick.
