Configuring LAN World Plug-n-Play Server Settings
LAN World Plug-n-Play exposes its options through an on-screen interface, and the Lan Server Settings screen is where you adjust how your hosted world behaves. This guide covers the port, player limit, MOTD, PvP, cheats, whitelist, and online-mode verification settings, plus the port-forwarding and UUID tools that sit alongside them.
Opening and Leaving the Settings Screen
The Lan Server Settings screen holds the configurable values for your hosted session. When you are finished adjusting things, use Back to Vanilla Screen to return to the standard screen.
Port
The port setting controls which port the server listens on. Enter a number between 1024 and 65535. If what you typed is not a valid port, the interface reports that it must be a number in that range. If the port is already taken, you will see a message that the port is not available, and you should pick a different number.
Maximum Players
This value sets the maximum number of players the server can host at one time. Raise or lower it to match how many people you expect to join.
MOTD
The MOTD is the message of the day. It is the server information shown beneath the server's name in the multiplayer server list, so it acts as a short description players see before joining.
PvP
PvP can be toggled on or off. Keep in mind that turning PvP off also stops you from taking damage from your own projectiles.
Cheats and Operator Permissions
AllPlayersCheats (labelled as other players' cheats) grants joining players permission to use administrative commands. As an alternative, you can use /op to make a specific person an operator.
Whitelist
The whitelist setting enforces a whitelist when enabled, meaning only whitelisted players are allowed to join. Use /whitelist to add players to the list.
Online-Mode Verification
This setting decides whether the server compares and verifies login information against the Mojang server database.
- Allowing only players with valid Microsoft/Mojang accounts means only those accounts can join the LAN server.
- Allowing anyone to join permits offline players as well.
- The Disable + UUID Fixer mode lets anyone join, but players with valid Microsoft/Mojang accounts keep their genuine unique UUID. This mode is intended for people migrating away from online mode who want to retain inventories.
UPnP Port Forwarding
UseUPnP sets up port forwarding through UPnP and broadcasts the game server on the LAN over UPnP, so people on the same LAN can find it directly. You can also retrieve the public IP and copy it to the clipboard. Because of factors such as NAT, the copied IPs may still not allow a direct connection.
Port-forwarding attempts can produce several results:
- The port was forwarded successfully.
- The port could not be forwarded because another UPnP service already mapped it — change the port number.
- The port could not be forwarded because UPnP is not enabled on the router; port mapping software may be needed.
- The port could not be forwarded due to an unknown error while adding the mapping; use port mapping software.
- The port could not be forwarded at all.
- The public IP could not be retrieved; check network settings, since the IPv4 may sit behind multiple NATs or there may be no IPv6.
UUID Fixer Policies
The UUID Fixer works with a default policy that can be displayed and changed. Policies may be online, offline, or a valid UUID; anything else is rejected as invalid. You can override the UUID of a player with a chosen value, and you can view the policy list. The list may be empty, a queried name may not be present in it, and entries can be removed from it.
Player Reporting Button
Replace Player Reporting Button swaps out the player reporting button in the interface.
