Mine Cells: Dead Cells in Minecraft
Mine Cells brings the world of Dead Cells into Minecraft, adding dungeon-dimensions, bosses, weapons and spells. This guide covers what it adds.
Dimension-dungeons
The mod adds five new dimension-dungeons, two of which house new bosses. These are themed after Dead Cells' biomes and play as combat challenges — you fight through their mobs toward the bosses and their rewards, so Mine Cells is an adventure-and-combat mod at heart.
Combat content
Mine Cells adds many new mobs, plus new weapons and spells drawn from Dead Cells' arsenal. The weapons and spells give varied combat styles for taking on the dungeons, and more — including bows and shields — are planned. Lots of decorative blocks let you build in the Dead Cells aesthetic too.
Getting started
Work toward entering the dimension-dungeons, gear up with the mod's weapons and spells, and take on the bosses. Because the content is combat-focused and themed after a roguelike, expect challenging fights — prepare well before diving in. The mod's wiki covers detailed getting-started steps for reaching each dimension.
Doorways are how you get in
Mine Cells puts its content in its own dimensions, and the way through is a doorway block rather than a built portal. Doorways to the first area appear on their own in the Overworld, and they can be broken and replaced elsewhere — so the first one you find can become a permanent entrance next to your base.
The mod backs this with an Overworld Portal structure placed on a spacing of 20 with a separation of 8, which is why the doorways turn up as reliably as they do.
Nine structures, one per area
The mod generates 9 structures: the Prison, the Promenade with its two wall pieces, the Ramparts, the Black Bridge and its walls, the Insufferable Crypt, and the Overworld Portal. Each dimension is a place with a guardian rather than a randomly generated dungeon.
The Cell Forge is the crafting system
80 Cell Forge recipes on 1.21.1 (79 on 1.20.1) make it the mod's real bench, and it runs on material brought back from the dimensions. Alongside it the mod carries small Crushing (3), Cutting (4), Filling (2) and Haunting (2) categories.
The recipe list moved to the stonecutter
Between versions, crafting fell from 122 recipes to 81 while stonecutting rose from 63 to 134. The same blocks are still available; they are just cut rather than assembled now. Three older categories — smelting, smoking and a shapeless book recipe — were dropped entirely on 1.21.1.
Runes change the world
A Reset Rune resets the spawner runes in a dimension, which is the mod's way of letting an area be run again. Other runes open paths — the vine rune, found along the Promenade's route, reaches areas that are otherwise closed.
Scale
244 pages across 151 blocks and 93 items, on 2.0.3 (1.21.1) and 2.0.0 (1.20.1).
