MiniHUD F3 Info Lines and Overlay Guide

guide

MiniHUD replaces the crowded F3 debug screen with a configurable set of info lines and overlay renderers that you control from its own interface and hotkeys. Everything is toggled through the mod's config GUI or the corresponding hotkey (set it in the controls menu), not through crafting or items.

Turning the HUD On and Off

The mainRenderingToggle is the master switch for all MiniHUD rendering, covering both the info lines and every overlay renderer. Open the config GUI with the openConfigGui hotkey (set it in the controls menu) to reach all settings.

You can also gate the info line HUD behind input:

  • requireSneak makes the info lines render only while you are sneaking.
  • requiredKey makes the HUD render only while a chosen key is held.

Choosing and Arranging Info Lines

Each info line is an individual toggle. Turn on only the lines you want, then position them with:

  • hudAlignment sets which corner or edge the HUD sits on.
  • textPosX and textPosY set the offset from the screen edge (defaults are 4 and 4).
  • fontScale scales the text (default 0.5).
  • sortLinesByLength sorts lines by text length, and sortLinesReversed flips that order.
  • hudStatusEffectsShift shifts top-right text down while status effects are active so they do not overlap.
  • offsetSubtitleHud pushes subtitles above the info lines when the HUD is in the bottom-right corner.

Coordinate, Biome, and Position Lines

  • infoCoordinates shows your coordinates; infoCoordinatesScaled shows them scaled by the dimension's scale factor (overworld and nether only, assuming vanilla portal scaling).
  • useCustomizedCoordinateFormat switches the coordinate line to the coordinateFormat string, which needs three format specifiers (default "x: y: z:").
  • infoBlockPosition shows your block position, formatted by blockPosFormat (three format specifiers required).
  • infoBlockInChunk, infoChunkPosition, infoLookingAtBlock, and infoLookingAtBlockInChunk cover your position within a chunk and what you are looking at.
  • infoBiome shows the biome name; infoBiomeRegistryName shows its registry name.
  • infoFacing, infoRotationYaw, and infoRotationPitch cover orientation.
  • infoDistance shows distance to a reference point, which you store with the setDistanceReferencePoint hotkey (set it in the controls menu).

Light, Entities, and Performance Lines

  • infoLightLevel shows the current light level.
  • infoEntities shows the visible/loaded entity count; infoEntitiesClientWorld shows the world-list count; infoTileEntities shows tile entity counts.
  • infoServerTPS shows server TPS and MSPT. It is only accurate on a Carpet server with the TPS display rule enabled; otherwise it is estimated client-side and can only detect values below 20.
  • infoMobCaps shows mob caps, but only parses data on Carpet servers after you subscribe with the mobcaps logging command.
  • infoFPS, infoPing, infoMemoryUsage, infoChunkUpdates, infoChunkSections, infoChunkSectionsLine, infoParticleCount, and infoLoadedChunksCount round out the performance readouts.

Time and Weather Lines

  • infoTimeWorld shows world time in ticks; infoWorldTimeFormatted shows it as days, hours, and minutes.
  • infoTimeDayModulo and infoTimeTotalModulo show modulo values, controlled by timeDayDivisor and timeTotalDivisor.
  • infoTimeIRL shows real time, formatted by dateFormatType and optionally dateFormatString. The Minecraft time format uses dateFormatMinecraft with placeholders like {DAY}, {HOUR}, {MIN}, and {MOON}.
  • infoWeather shows current weather and remaining time.

Text Appearance

  • textColor sets info line text color; textBackgroundColor sets the background color.
  • useTextBackground enables a solid background behind the text.

Overlay Renderers

Overlays are toggled separately from the info lines: overlayLightLevel, overlayBiomeBorder, overlaySlimeChunks, overlaySpawnChunkReal, overlaySpawnChunkPlayer, overlayStructureMainToggle, overlayVillagerInfo, and others. Many have their own colors and radius settings, such as lightLevelThresholdSafe, lightLevelThresholdDim, biomeOverlayRange, and slimeChunkOverlayRadius. The shapeRenderer toggle controls the shape renderer as a whole.
