Your first hours in MITE Equilibrium are defined by the Flint Age, a period where metal is entirely out of reach and your survival depends on shaping crude stone into usable gear. The environment offers no handouts: settlements do not exist, useful materials are spread thin, and nearly every improvement to your situation requires deliberate, manual effort.

Locating the Starter Chest

Immediately after you appear in the world, scan your immediate surroundings. A chest should be present near your spawn point. Inside it, you will find a Spyglass. This item is not just a trinket—interacting with it triggers your first advancement, so pick it up and use it as soon as possible. Consider it your initial milestone and a sign that progress is tied to discovering and using specific tools.

Gathering Flint

Your first resource goal is flint. Search for gravel blocks and break them. Each block has a chance to drop Flint Shards, and occasionally a single gravel block will yield one whole piece of flint. To begin crafting the essentials, you will want at least four shards in your inventory. Do not skip this step; without flint, you cannot create any of the tools that define the early game.

Crafting Your First Tools

Once you have enough shards, open your crafting grid and follow these recipes:

Flint Hatchet – Combine one Flint, two Sticks, and one Sinew in a shaped pattern. This is your first tool and your means of chopping down trees for wood.
Flint Knife – Combine one Flint, one Sinew, and one Stick. This blade serves two purposes: it is a basic weapon for defending yourself, and it is a required component for building your first workbench.
Flint Shovel – Combine one Flint, one Sinew, and two Sticks. This tool lets you dig through dirt and soft ground more efficiently.

Use the hatchet to fell several trees. Wood is your next critical resource.

Building the Flint Crafting Table

With wood in hand, you can now assemble your first workstation. Take your Flint Knife and combine it with any log. The result is the Flint Crafting Table. This block is the gateway to every subsequent recipe in the game. Place it down and interact with it to access a broader crafting interface.

Note that MITE Equilibrium uses a strict tier system. Each tier of item requires a crafting table of at least the same tier. The Flint Crafting Table is the lowest tier, but it is sufficient for your current needs and for producing the tools that will carry you to the next stage.

Moving Toward Copper

Your immediate objective after establishing the Flint Crafting Table is copper. You will need to collect 27 Copper Nuggets. Once you have them, craft a Copper Pickaxe. This tool is significant for two reasons: it allows you to mine harder materials, and crafting it unlocks village spawning in your world. This milestone also grants you 100 experience points. There may be alternate paths to bypass this requirement, but the copper pickaxe is the most direct route forward.

Understanding Your Toolkit

As you progress, keep the following roles in mind:

The Flint Hatchet remains your primary woodcutter until you can craft a metal replacement.
The Flint Knife is your basic melee option, but it is also a vital crafting ingredient, so keep a spare.
The Flint Shovel speeds up excavation of soft blocks.
Later metal tiers introduce a Hammer, a unique weapon that deals 1.5 times damage to skeletons. It also functions as a pickaxe for mining, though with lower efficiency than a dedicated pickaxe. Hammers are available at every metal tier and have higher durability than standard tools of the same material.

Your progression path is linear at first: flint tools lead to the crafting table, which leads to copper, which opens up the next phase of survival. Focus on securing wood, flint, and sinew in the early minutes, and you will establish a stable foundation for the challenges ahead.
