- It operates automatically as long as it is placed in contact with adjacent water source blocks.
- It feeds directly into bronze fluid pipes, ensuring steady baseline flow.
Because bronze boilers consume substantial fluid volumes while firing, automated water pumping is mandatory to prevent factory stalls.
Installing the Bronze Water Pump
Follow these setup steps to install the pump correctly:
- Dig a small trench or 2x2 water pool in your workshop floor.
- Place the Bronze Water Pump directly against the water source block.
- Attach a Bronze Fluid Pipe to the output side of the pump.
- Route the pipe directly into the fluid input hatch of a Bronze Boiler.
If transitioning between machine tiers, an existing Steel Water Pump can also be processed inside an Unpacker machine to recover a Bronze Water Pump.
Preventing Boiler Stalls and System Layout
A bronze boiler that runs out of water while burning fuel will stop producing steam instantly. Connecting at least one dedicated Bronze Water Pump per boiler guarantees that internal water tanks remain full, keeping your early steam blast furnaces and steam macerators running at full capacity:
- Avoid sharing a single bronze pump across multiple high-demand boilers.
- Position the pump within three to four blocks of the boiler to minimize pipe friction and throughput drops.
- Inspect pipe connections with your wrench to ensure directional flow arrows point into the boiler intake.
Early Steam Network Planning
Planning your early boiler room layout around the Bronze Water Pump ensures continuous operation:
- Position the pump at the same Y-level as your steam boilers to create compact, self-contained power generation cells.
- Enclose the water source blocks with cobblestone or stone bricks to protect them from explosions and environmental disturbances.
- Because bronze pumps operate without fuel or electricity, they can run indefinitely in remote mining outposts and standalone steam workshops without active maintenance.
