Automated Ore Drilling with the Electric Quarry Multiblock
The Electric Quarry in Modern Industrialization is an advanced multiblock excavator that consumes EU power and interchangeable metal drill heads to extract renewable ores from the bedrock layer.
Assembling the Electric Quarry Controller
The Electric Quarry controller is assembled in the Assembler, upgrading a Steam Quarry with mid-tier electronics and machinery:
The Assembler consumes these components and outputs 1 Electric Quarry controller.
Multiblock Construction and Hatches
The quarry multiblock is constructed on bedrock or near world bottom:
- Built using Steel Machine Casings arranged in a hollow rectangular framework.
- Incorporates 1 Energy Input Hatch (MV or HV tier).
- Incorporates 1 Item Input Hatch to receive drill heads.
- Incorporates 1 Item Output Hatch to deposit mined ores.
When properly built, the quarry engages the bedrock layer without destroying surrounding blocks.
Drill Heads and Ore Yields
The Electric Quarry operates by wearing down drill items over time, yielding specific ores based on drill metallurgy:
Bronze Drill: Mined output includes
Iron Ore,
Copper Ore, and basic cobblestone.
Steel Drill: Mined output includes
Antimony Ore,
Tin Ore, and coal.
Stainless Steel Drill: Unlocks deep subterranean veins including rare minerals and precious bauxite.
Pair the output hatch with automated sorting pipes leading to macerators and electric blast furnaces for complete hands-free ore processing.
Automated Drill Feeding and Maintenance
Because drills suffer gradual durability loss during excavation, establishing an automated drill replacement pipeline is essential:
- Connect an item hopper or automated retrieval pipe to the Item Input Hatch.
- Keep a dedicated chest stocked with manufactured steel or stainless steel drills.
- Route spent drills to salvage crushers if applicable or replace them automatically when broken.
- Ensure the quarry has an uninterrupted power supply to prevent mining cycle interruptions.
Ore Processing and Logistics Integration
Automating the output of the Electric Quarry transforms raw mineral production:
- Connect fluid pipes carrying lubricant or water to secondary processing machines like macerators to boost raw ore processing yields.
- Route extracted crushed ores directly into electric blast furnaces to convert them into refined ingots automatically.
- Utilizing item filters on your output pipes allows you to separate valuable bauxite and antimony from common stone and gravel before reaching warehouse storage.
