Modern Industrialization offers three distinct water pump tiers:
- Bronze Water Pump: Early-game passive pump operating without electrical wiring.
- Steel Water Pump: Intermediate pump offering higher extraction rates for expanding steam boiler arrays.
- Electric Water Pump: High-volume electrical pump powered by LV electricity.
Selecting the right pump depends on your current power stage. Early steam setups rely on bronze pumps, while automated chemical reactors require high-throughput electric models.

Placement and Extraction Mechanics
To achieve continuous water output:
- Place the pump block directly adjacent to or above two water source blocks.
- Connect Fluid Pipes to the pump's output face.
- Use a wrench to configure pipe connections and set the pump side to output.
- For electric models, connect tin or copper cables carrying at least 1 EU/t.
The pump continually draws water from the source blocks without consuming them, delivering a steady flow of water into storage tanks or boiler lines. This eliminates manual water hauling with buckets and ensures high-pressure steam systems never run dry.
Connecting to Factory Infrastructure
Once fluid extraction begins, route the water through pressurized fluid pipe networks:
- Run primary water lines to steam boilers generating motive power.
- Feed secondary lines to electrolytic cells and chemical plants requiring fluid hydration.
- Install fluid storage tanks between pumps and machinery to buffer water reserves against peak demand periods.
Troubleshooting Fluid Bottlenecks
If machines downstream experience fluid starvation, check the following pipeline factors:
- Verify that the two adjacent water source blocks remain undisturbed and are not converted into flowing water by accidental block updates.
- Check fluid pipe throughput limits, as standard pipes can only carry a fixed volume of millibuckets per tick.
- When expanding into multi-machine steam setups, deploy separate pump clusters dedicated to boiler feeding rather than routing all factory fluid demands through a single pipe junction.
