Reading Enhanced Egg Lore in MoreCobblemonTweaks

guide

MoreCobblemonTweaks can add extra lines to an egg's lore so you can judge what is inside before it hatches. The feature is called Enhanced Egg Lore, and it must be switched on before any of the egg indicators below will appear.

What the lore can show

Once Enhanced Egg Lore is active, an egg's tooltip can carry several pieces of information about the Pokémon inside it:

  • A Shiny Egg Indicator marks a shiny with a gold star.
  • A Perfect IV Egg Indicator marks an egg whose IVs are all perfect with an aqua triangle.
  • A Minimum IV Egg Indicator marks an egg with every IV at zero using a red hazard triangle.
  • The remaining egg cycles are listed under Egg Cycles Remaining:.

Each of these three indicators is a separate setting. Turning one on does not turn on the others, and each one depends on Enhanced Egg Lore being enabled first. If the main feature is off, the indicators cannot run.

Symbols or words

By default the indicators show as symbols. If you would rather read them as words, enable Text Egg Indicators. This setting also requires Enhanced Egg Lore, and it only changes how the marks are rendered — an egg still needs one of the indicators to be switched on before anything is shown.

Encrypted eggs

Some eggs are encrypted, which means the mod cannot see what is inside them. When Egg Encryption Warning is enabled and Enhanced Egg Lore is on, the lore will tell you that the egg's data cannot be read. The message reads: ⚠ Unable to read egg data due to encryption!

To actually decrypt an egg, you need to turn off egg encryption and then right-click the egg. There are two cases:

  • If you are the server host, disable egg encryption in the server host's cobbreeding config, then right-click to decrypt.
  • If you are a player, disable egg encryption in your own cobbreeding config, then right-click to decrypt.

If reading fails

Occasionally the mod may fail to read an egg's data even when the egg is not encrypted. It will retry a few times, and you may see messages such as Timed out $s time(s), Retrying... or Timed out $s times, Last attempt. If the problem continues, the lore will show a warning that MoreCobblemonTweaks errored repeatedly while trying to read the egg's data, and it will suggest making sure the mod is up to date. If it already is, the message asks you to report the issue on github and suggests disabling Enhanced Egg Lore until it is fixed.

Two other options in the mod affect the PC rather than egg lore, but they are worth knowing:

  • An IV Display widget can be added to the PC menu, showing the IVs of the Pokémon you are previewing.
  • Colored IVs makes those IV values match the colors of their respective power items. This one only works when IV Display is enabled.
  • A button can be added to the PC for selecting several Pokémon at once, so you can move or release them together.
  • Another button can be added to the PC to open a box view.

A note on overrides

Some settings may show as Overridden by Server. When that appears, the server you are playing on has supplied its own value and your local choice will not take effect.

Operating the settings

All of these options live in the mod's settings interface. Open it, find the feature you want, and toggle it on or off. The egg indicators are grouped together and each one lists Enhanced Egg Lore as a requirement, so start there. If you prefer to bind a key for quick access, set the corresponding hotkey in the controls menu.
