Configuring the Hold Up Items Feature in Not Enough Animations
Hold Up Items changes how a player appears when holding an item up, as though examining it or presenting it in front of themselves. Several related settings control who receives the effect, where the item is aimed, and how the arm sits when the pose is active.
Enabling the Feature
Turn on Hold Up Items to activate the pose. The related Hold Up option governs the same behaviour, letting the player raise an item as if inspecting it or displaying it ahead of their body. Once active, the remaining options below shape how that pose looks and who it applies to.
Choosing a Target
Hold Up Target determines what the held-up item is oriented toward. Use it to decide the reference point the item faces when the pose plays.
Adjusting the Camera Offset
Hold Up Camera Offset changes how far the arm shifts out to the sides while the pose is shown in Camera mode. Raise or lower this value to move the arm laterally, which helps when the default position looks cramped or overlaps other elements on screen.
Restricting to Your Own Player
Hold Up Only Self limits the pose to your character alone. With it enabled, other players are left untouched and keep their normal appearance; the effect is not shared with them. This is useful when you want the visual change for yourself without altering how everyone else looks.
Pointing the Item
A separate option controls where the item is aimed while held up. This setting changes the direction the held item points, so you can fine-tune whether it faces forward, toward the camera, or another angle that suits your view.
How to Operate These Settings
Open the mod's settings interface, titled Not Enough Animations Settings, and locate the Hold Up Items group. From there:
- Switch Hold Up Items on to enable the pose.
- Set Hold Up Target to choose what the item faces.
- Adjust Hold Up Camera Offset to move the arm sideways in Camera mode.
- Enable Hold Up Only Self to keep the effect on your player only.
- Use the item-pointing option to change the direction the held item aims.
If you prefer to trigger the pose with a key rather than leaving it always active, bind the Hold Up Items action to the corresponding hotkey (set it in the controls menu). No default key is assumed here, so assign whatever binding you like.
Notes on Related Settings
The settings interface also contains many unrelated animation options, such as Animation Smoothing, In-World Map Rendering, Eat/Drink Animation, Boat Rowing Animation, Horse Riding Animation, Crawling Animation, Item Swap Animation, Freezing Animation, and others. These do not affect the Hold Up Items pose and can be configured independently.
One adjacent option, Hold Up Only Self, is the key control for scope: it decides whether the pose is a personal visual change or something applied more broadly. Combine it with Hold Up Target, Hold Up Camera Offset, and the item-pointing setting to get the exact look you want.
