Noxesium Settings Menu and UI Performance Patch Hotkeys
Noxesium exposes its options through an in-game settings screen rather than through crafting or items. Two function-key combinations sit at the center of everyday use: one opens that settings screen, and the other flips the mod's UI performance patches on or off. Both are listed in the mod's own on-screen help text.
Opening the Settings Menu
Press F3 + V to open the Noxesium settings menu. This is the entry point for every option described below — the performance patches, the FPS counter, map rendering, and the developer-oriented logging toggles. If the combination does not respond, check that it has not been reassigned in the controls menu.
Toggling UI Performance Patches
Press F3 + W to toggle Noxesium UI performance patches. The mod confirms the result on screen: a message reports that the patches are now on, or that they are now off. This is a quick switch — you do not need to open the settings menu to use it.
The FPS Counter
A separate hotkey, F3 + Y, toggles an on-screen FPS counter. When switched on, the mod reports that the counter is on and notes that F3 + Y turns it off again; when switched off, it reports that the counter is off. The counter itself is a small overlay placed in the top left corner of the screen showing the current frame rate.
Other Settings in the Menu
Beyond the hotkey-driven toggles, the settings menu holds further options:
- Experimental Optimizations — carries an explicit unstable warning. It swaps out the entire UI rendering path for a much faster replacement. If UI rendering breaks while this is active, the mod asks that you report the problem to Noxesium rather than to any other mod involved.
- Reset Toggle Keys on Death — decides whether sprint and sneak toggles are cleared when you respawn, matching the behaviour normally seen in vanilla.
- Render Maps in UI — when on, a map held in either hand appears in the top left or top right corner of the screen rather than being drawn at the hand's position. A third choice, "Ask server", lets the server you are connected to decide whether the feature applies.
- Map size and map location settings — these adjust the dimensions and the placement of the map used by the Render Maps in UI option.
- Game time overlay — a small overlay showing the current game time, described as intended for shader development.
- Dump Incoming Packets and Dump Outgoing Packets — turn on logging of Noxesium packets handled by the client and of packets sent to the server, respectively. Both are aimed at server developers building Noxesium integrations.
- Qib debug visuals — enables debug visuals for the qib system, again for server developers working on integrations.
- Extended Error Logging — attaches extra error logs to several kinds of invalid packet exceptions, for server developers.
- Team Glow Keybinds — adds keybinds that make players glow according to their team colour. A game restart is required before they take effect, and the keybinds only function while you are spectating. The available binds cover red, orange, yellow, lime, green, cyan, aqua, blue, purple, and pink highlighting, plus an option to enable all highlights at once and one to disable all highlights.
Practical Notes
The two hotkeys covered here do different jobs: F3 + V is the way into the full settings menu, while F3 + W is a direct switch for the UI performance patches. The FPS counter has its own key, F3 + Y. For any other action described in this guide, use the corresponding hotkey and set it in the controls menu if you want to change it.
