Configuring Noxesium's Experimental Optimizations and Reset Toggle Keys on Death
Noxesium's settings menu contains two options that affect how the game behaves day to day: Experimental Optimizations, which changes how the interface is drawn, and Reset Toggle Keys on Death, which decides whether toggled movement keys are cleared when you respawn. Both are found in the Noxesium settings menu, which you open with the corresponding hotkey (set it in the controls menu). The same menu can also be reached with the key combination shown in the mod's own help text: F3 + V.
Experimental Optimizations
Experimental Optimizations is a toggle that enables experimental UI performance improvements. When active, it completely replaces all UI rendering code so the interface runs much faster. The setting carries an explicit warning that it is unstable.
Because it swaps out the entire UI rendering path, any visual glitches or rendering problems you see while it is on should be reported to Noxesium rather than to other mods involved. If the interface misbehaves, turn the option off before filing a report elsewhere.
You can flip this setting from the menu, or use the dedicated toggle hotkey (set it in the controls menu). The mod's help text lists F3 + W as the combination that toggles the UI performance patches. When you switch it, an on-screen message confirms the new state: either the patches are now on, or they are now off.
Reset Toggle Keys on Death
Reset Toggle Keys on Death controls whether toggled keys — sprint and sneak — are reset when you respawn. This behaviour is normally enabled in vanilla, so leaving it on keeps the standard result: after dying and respawning, your sprint and sneak toggles return to their default state instead of staying where you left them.
Turn it off if you prefer your toggled sprint or sneak state to persist through a death and respawn. There is no separate hotkey for this option; change it in the Noxesium settings menu.
Related On-Screen Displays
The same menu holds a few small overlays that are useful when tuning performance or shaders:
- An FPS overlay that places the current frame rate in the top left corner of the screen. It can be toggled with its own hotkey (set it in the controls menu); the mod's help text lists F3 + Y for this. A message confirms whether the counter is now on or off, and the on-state message notes that F3 + Y turns it off again.
- A game time overlay intended for shader development.
- Map rendering options: one setting renders maps held in a hand in the top left or right corner of the screen instead of relative to the hand, with an "Ask server" choice that lets the server enable or disable the feature. Two further settings control the size and the location of that map.
Developer-Facing Options
The menu also includes tools aimed at server developers working on Noxesium integrations: Dump Incoming Packets and Dump Outgoing Packets enable logging of Noxesium packets handled by the client and sent to the server respectively, debug visuals can be enabled for the qib system, and Extended Error Logging adds extra error logs for various invalid packet exceptions.
Finally, Team Glow Keybinds adds keybinds that make players glow according to their team colour. This requires restarting the game to take effect, and the keybinds only work while spectating. They cover red, orange, yellow, lime, green, cyan, aqua, blue, purple, and pink highlighting, plus an option to enable all highlights at once and one to disable them all.
