Powering Up: Generators, Drills, Lasers, and Reactors in Oritech
Overview
This guide covers the main machines for generating energy and acquiring raw materials in Oritech. You will learn how the Deep Drill, Enderic Laser, and Biomass Churning produce resources, and how Reactor Fuelling, the Charger, and Cooling support your power grid.
Deep Drill for Mining
The Deep Drill is your primary tool for pulling ores straight from resource nodes. It has 11 processing recipes, each converting a specific node type into a usable material.
Coal Resource Node produces Coal.
Diamond Resource Node produces Diamond.
Emerald Resource Node produces Emerald.
Lapis Lazuli Resource Node produces Lapis Lazuli.
Copper Resource Node produces Raw Copper.
Gold Resource Node produces Raw Gold.
Iron Resource Node produces Raw Iron.
Nickel Resource Node produces Raw Nickel.
Platinum Resource Node produces Raw Platinum.
Uranium Resource Node produces Raw Uranium.
Redstone Resource Node produces Redstone Dust.
Place the drill over the matching node and supply power. It will steadily extract the raw material without needing to mine blocks manually.
Enderic Laser for Advanced Materials
The Enderic Laser Block Destruction machine handles four special conversions. It uses a laser to break down specific clusters and crystals into rarer products.
Amethyst Cluster turns into Fluxite.- Uranium Cluster turns into Plutonium Dust.
Uranite Crystal turns into Plutonium Dust.- Quartz Cluster turns into Charged Certus Quartz Crystal.
This machine is useful when you need Plutonium Dust for reactor fuel or Fluxite for other processes. The laser consumes significant energy, so keep it connected to a stable power source.
Reactor Fuelling
The Reactor Fuelling process prepares fuel for your nuclear reactor. It has four recipes, all involving uranium or plutonium pellets.
Uranium Pellet is processed into reactor fuel.
Plutonium Pellet is processed into reactor fuel.
Small Uranium Pellet is processed into a smaller fuel charge.
Small Plutonium Pellet is processed into a smaller fuel charge.
Use this machine to convert raw pellets into the exact fuel type your reactor accepts. The small pellets likely provide less energy per unit but may be easier to produce in bulk.
Charger for Fluxite
The Charger has a single recipe. It takes any amethyst gem (from the `#c:gems/amethyst` tag) and converts it into
Fluxite.
Fluxite is an important material used in other recipes, such as the Enderic Laser conversion of Amethyst Clusters. If you have spare amethyst, run it through the Charger to stockpile Fluxite for later crafting.
Cooling for Byproducts
The Cooling machine has four recipes, each producing a different solid block or sheet. The exact inputs are not listed here, but the outputs are:
Ice (x3)
Obsidian (x2)
Plastic Sheet
Snow Block (x3)
Cooling likely takes hot or liquid inputs and solidifies them. Use it to generate building materials or to recycle excess fluids into useful blocks.
Biomass Churning for Biofuel
The Biomass Churning machine has seven recipes. It processes organic materials into biofuel or other products. Known inputs include:
- Biomass
- Block of Biomass
- Packed Wheat
- Raw Biopolymer
- Wheat Seeds
- Solid Biofuel
- Unholy Intelligence
Each recipe produces a different output, though the exact results are not specified here. This machine is the main way to turn farmed or gathered organic matter into energy-dense fuel for your generators.
Putting It Together
For a self-sufficient setup, start with a Deep Drill on iron and coal nodes to secure basic materials. Use a Charger to make Fluxite from amethyst. Feed biomass into the Biomass Churning machine to create fuel for early power. As you progress, build the Enderic Laser to obtain Plutonium Dust, then use Reactor Fuelling to create pellets for a high-output reactor. Run the Cooling machine alongside your reactor to produce ice or obsidian as a bonus.
Each machine has a specific role, and none of them overlap in function. Plan your power budget carefully—the laser and drill are energy-hungry, while the churning and cooling processes are likely more modest in consumption.
