Showing Advancement IDs, Debug Tooltips, and Criterion Entries in Paginated Advancements

guide

This guide explains how to reveal advancement identifiers, read debug tooltips, and control how many criterion entries appear in the Paginated Advancements & Custom Frames interface. Everything here is handled through the mod's own interface and hotkeys rather than through crafting or item recipes.

Debug Tooltips on Advancement Hover

When you hover over an advancement, the interface can display extra debug information. This is controlled by the Show debug info on advancement hover action, which you trigger with the corresponding hotkey (set it in the controls menu). Pressing it toggles the debug display for the advancement you are currently hovering over.

A key part of that debug output is the advancement's identifier. The setting ShowAdvancementIDInDebugTooltip determines whether the advancement ID appears inside the debug tooltip. When this is enabled, hovering an advancement with debug info active shows its ID alongside the rest of the debug details.

If you need to capture an ID rather than just read it, the interface supports copying it. When an advancement ID is copied, the message copied to clipboard confirms the action, and the ID is placed on your clipboard for use elsewhere.

Hover Background Fading

Hovering an advancement can also change how the background looks. The FadeOutBackgroundOnAdvancementHover setting fades the background slightly gray while you hover over an advancement. This makes the hovered advancement stand out against the rest of the screen and keeps the debug tooltip readable.

Criterion Entry Display

Advancements can have multiple criterion entries, and the interface limits how many are shown at once. The MaxCriterionEntries setting controls the maximum number of displayed advancement criterion entries. Adjust this value to show more or fewer entries depending on how much detail you want visible.

When a list of entries is longer than the space allows, scrolling reveals the rest. The interface indicates this with the [Scroll] more... prompt, telling you that additional content is available below or beyond the current view.

Tabs, Pinning, and Spacing

The advancement screen is organized into tabs, and several settings affect how they behave.

  • PinningEnabled turns pinning of advancement tabs on or off.
  • PinnedTabs holds the list of pinned tabs, identified by their root advancement identifier.
  • SpacingBetweenPinnedTabs sets the spacing between pinned tabs.
  • SpacingBetweenHorizontalTabs sets the spacing between horizontal tabs.

Pinning lets you keep frequently used tabs in a fixed spot, while the spacing options let you tune how tightly or loosely the tabs are arranged.

Restoring Your Last Tab

The interface can remember where you left off. SaveLastSelectedTab saves and restores the last selected tab, so reopening the screen returns you to the tab you were viewing. LastSelectedTab stores the identifier of that last selected tab.

Configuration Overview

All of these options live under the Paginated Advancements Config title. The settings covered here include FadeOutBackgroundOnAdvancementHover, PinnedTabs, SaveLastSelectedTab, LastSelectedTab, SpacingBetweenHorizontalTabs, SpacingBetweenPinnedTabs, MaxCriterionEntries, PinningEnabled, and ShowAdvancementIDInDebugTooltip. The debug hover action and the [Scroll] more... prompt round out the controls described here.

To summarize the workflow: enable the debug hover action with its hotkey, turn on ShowAdvancementIDInDebugTooltip to see IDs, copy an ID when you need it and watch for the copied to clipboard confirmation, cap visible entries with MaxCriterionEntries, and use the scroll prompt to reach anything beyond that cap.
