How to Use the Paginated Advancements Screen: Controls and Navigation
This guide covers the basic controls and navigation of the paginated advancements screen.
Opening and Moving Through the Screen
The advancements interface is paginated, meaning advancement tabs are arranged across pages rather than shown all at once. To move between pages, use the scroll action — the screen displays the prompt [Scroll] more... to indicate that additional content is available beyond what is currently visible. Scroll in the corresponding direction to reveal the next set of tabs or entries.
Tabs
Tabs are the primary way the screen is organized. Horizontal tabs are laid out side by side, and the spacing between them can be adjusted through the SpacingBetweenHorizontalTabs setting if the default layout feels too tight or too spread out.
Tabs can also be pinned. When pinning is active, pinned tabs are grouped together and separated by their own spacing value, controlled by SpacingBetweenPinnedTabs. The PinningEnabled setting turns the ability to pin advancement tabs on or off. If you want a specific set of tabs to always appear in the pinned group, the PinnedTabs setting holds the list of pinned tabs, identified by the root advancement identifier of each one.
Remembering Your Place
The screen can remember which tab you were last viewing. The SaveLastSelectedTab setting controls whether that selection is saved and restored the next time you open the screen. The LastSelectedTab setting stores the identifier of the tab that was last selected, so the screen knows where to return you.
Hovering Over Advancements
When you hover over an advancement, the background can dim to make the hovered content easier to read. This is handled by the FadeOutBackgroundOnAdvancementHover setting, which fades the background slightly gray while an advancement is under your cursor.
Hovering is also how you access debug information. The ShowAdvancementIDInDebugTooltip setting controls whether the advancement's ID appears in the debug tooltip when you hover over it. This is useful when you need to identify an advancement precisely rather than by its display name.
Copying an Advancement ID
If you need to reference an advancement's identifier elsewhere, the screen supports copying it. When the copy action is performed, the message copied to clipboard confirms that the Advancement ID was placed on your clipboard. This gives you a reliable way to capture the exact identifier shown in the debug tooltip without writing it down manually.
Configuring the Screen
Most of the behaviour described above is governed by settings grouped under the Paginated Advancements Config heading. These include the background fade, pinned tab list, last-selected-tab saving, tab spacing values, the maximum number of displayed advancement criterion entries (MaxCriterionEntries), pinning, and the debug tooltip's advancement ID display.
Hotkeys
Some actions on this screen are bound to hotkeys rather than clicked. Where a fact does not state a specific key, use the corresponding hotkey and set it in the controls menu if it is not already assigned to something convenient. Check the controls menu to confirm or change the binding for any action you plan to use often, particularly if it conflicts with another mod's key.
Practical Tips
- If tabs feel crowded, increase the horizontal tab spacing so labels are easier to distinguish.
- Pin the tabs you check most often so they stay grouped and easy to reach.
- Leave SaveLastSelectedTab enabled if you tend to return to the same tab repeatedly.
- Turn on ShowAdvancementIDInDebugTooltip when you need exact identifiers for copying.
- Use the copy action and watch for the copied to clipboard confirmation before pasting the ID.
- If you see [Scroll] more..., there is additional content past the current view — scroll to reach it.
