Kitchen cabinets, counters, drawers, and sinks give you practical storage and decorative options for building a kitchen in Minecraft. This guide covers how to craft each piece and what it does when placed.
Cabinets
Cabinets come in a wide range of styles. The materials required shift based on which variant you pick — some use wood planks, others use logs, and others use stone. Every cabinet recipe also calls for a chest.
To build a cabinet in a different wood type, take the recipe and swap out the oak for whichever wood you prefer. The same substitution approach applies across the available variants.
Once a cabinet is placed, right-clicking it opens it. Inside, you can keep whatever items you like.
Counters
Counters also come in many variations, and like cabinets, the ingredients depend on the variant — planks, logs, or stone. A chest is not part of the counter recipe. As with cabinets, changing the wood type is a matter of replacing the oak in the recipe with the wood you want.
Counters serve a decorative purpose only. They do not hold items. When you place several next to each other, they join together, and the way they connect works similarly to how stairs link up.
Drawers
Drawers follow the same crafting logic as cabinets. There are numerous variations, the materials vary by type — planks, logs, or stone — and a chest is required. Swapping oak for another wood type gives you that wood's version of the drawer.
Right-clicking a drawer opens it, and it accepts any item you want to store. Drawers also connect to one another and change their shape as they do, just like counters.
Sinks
Sinks round out the kitchen set as another decorative piece. They pair naturally with the storage and surface blocks above when you are laying out a kitchen space.
Picking Materials and Building a Kitchen
The three storage and surface types share a common crafting pattern: choose your variant, gather the matching material — planks, logs, or stone — and, for cabinets and drawers, add a chest. Wood type is flexible throughout, since replacing oak with another wood gives you that wood's version.
For a functional kitchen, cabinets and drawers are the pieces that hold your items, while counters and sinks are there for looks. Because counters and drawers connect and reshape when placed side by side, you can run them along a wall to form a continuous surface or storage row. Mixing wood types lets you match the rest of your build, and using stone variants offers a different look for the same set of blocks.
A simple approach: line up counters as your main work surface, tuck cabinets and drawers underneath or alongside for storage, and finish with a sink. Right-click any cabinet or drawer to access what is inside, and rearrange the connected pieces until the layout suits your space.
